Jillus
Two million items are to be sold for just 1p each as Marks & Spencer returns to its Penny Bazaar roots. The sale is part of a celebration to mark 125 years since the company began. For three days from next Wednesday, all 300 main stores will house an Original Penny Bazaar, offering 20 products including jewellery sets, beach balls, knickers, ties and socks. The crowds are going to be incredible, I think I will give it a miss despite loving a bargain!

craftyhunnypie
I hope so, I'm not tackling the crowds. It will do town centres good, they are so quiet at the moment. Emma.x
The Dogmother
I bet people will be filling up for Christmas stocking fillers! There doesn't seem to be the £10 meal deal on this week though
bluekarin
It's limited to 5 items per customer might brave the crowds today Edit: I mean next Wednesday as it's not on yet Edited May 14, 2009 by Guest
Martin B
Well my mum and I are going down on Wednesday morning for opening. We are lucky that we have two M&S stores in Stratford and I believe both are doing the promotion so one trip to the other and we should have a nice mass. Sunshine
I've just read my email about it. It will get people there especially as they have stock for all three days so when its all sold on the 1st day they won't bring anymore out until Thurs and Friday. When i went into our local M&S today they all bunting up everywhere. I usually walk through my local M&S on my way to Oxfam on Wed mornings at about 9ish as Oxfam is sometimes not open on time. I bet it will be chaos tomorrow but i will probably end up going to see if i can get anything before its all sold. Emma

Cinnamon
Back!!! Well, I got there at 9.10& there was a HUGE queue right round the block, but I joined it anyhow. Lots of security guys there making sure it all went smoothly. By the time I got in, some 20 mins later all but the ginger beer, sweets & beach balls had sold out, so I got a few of those.Still worth it. They will have fresh stock in all stores tomorrow & Friday. Must say that I was very impressed by how organised it was. No scrums or anything. There was a big counter which you walked around with the goods behind it & you had to stay in line & ASK for the item to be handed to you by a staff member. All very civilised & British Then you sort of paid at the end,but it was just some staff holding charity donation rattle tins, so you could put in what you wanted.I paid a bit more than the 5p I had spent, as it all goes to charity anyhow. Helly Welly
I didn't get there until 10.10am and everything was gone by then
Martin B
I've been, and like Sarah was queing up the high street and waiting for twenty minutes. I manaed to get the mug, a can of ginger beer, a necklace worth £10, a frisbee and a fantastic tea towel, really authentic and I really like it. Also found out that the items are free but a suggested donation of 1p, as it is for charity they can't charge or something like that. haha! Some people did take advantage of this I believe and didn't take a penny. Awful!
Cinnamon
I loved the tea towel Martin & wanted a Frisbee for the dog. Swap you for some ginger beer

Nicola H
Well by the time i got there it was shut and everything had been sold, apparently they started to queue at 8am and stayed open for an hour....
Jillus
I was walking past on my way to work so joined the queue and after a ten minute wait went in and got a lovely Mug, the nostalgis tea towel, some old fashioned sweets, a frisbee and a brooch ( great Christmas present for MIL) As they wanted donations I put a fiver in the bucket as it was for a local MS charity. There was not much left though and only one pair of knickers, size 20!
