jlo
We had a lie in (till 8!) this morning after an exciting night watching Madness at Newbury Racecourse last night (They were fab and I showed the children just how embarrassing parents can be ) A bit of gardening and the children were brave enough to go in the pool even though the boiler is broken and it was fre-e-e-e-e-zing! Wouldn't it be lovely if the summer was going to be predominantly gorgeous like this? ( I know we do need some rain but the sun does make me smile!) Guest
what are you revising for? Just being nosey I didn't get up til about 11 either, this heat just seems to be zapping all my strength! Had coffee and toast with yummy blackcurrant jam, courtesy of 2 sheds Then 2 sheds watered all the fruit and veg in the garden, moved some seedlings into the propagator, moved the garden bench into a shadier spot, moved the garden table and chairs into a sunnier spot, moved the dog kennel out of the way, brushed up and garden vac'd all the aubiose up and generally tidied the garden. we had lunch, some veg soup I made yonks ago and froze with some of those part baked rolls, hot from the oven, mmmmmmmmm. Did a bit of washing, hoping it's cooler tomorrow so I can iron it! Just about to make tea, a sort of Casoulet I made ages ago and froze with some mashed potato with baby turnips and spinach from the allotment and some tiffin (aka refrigerator cake) for pud Might have a nice glass of bitter shandy too, which reminds me, 2 sheds has some beer to rack off, must remind him! Chucky Mama
Had sister in law and family over. Really lovely day in garden playing cricket with the children (chickens no likey cricket!), walked dogs, ate lots, chatted, put the world to rights. A really lovely relaxing day, set me up for the week.
ChrisP
A levels Hoping they go ok, cos I wanna go to uni next year Sounds like everyone's had a great day, can't wait for my exams to be over so that I can spend all day in the garden every day
Olly
I gardened and gardened and gardened all day! I potted up nine tomatoes, two cucumbers, about fifteen little catnip plants and some basil, and planted two courgettes. I planted up the Belfast sink that I got a friend to help me move yesterday with some herbs. I swept the patio, scrubbed all the flowerpots, cut down a viburnum that has died mysteriously, and pruned a few other things. I trimmed the box hedge, cleaned out the chickens, swept the greenhouse, retrieved a wandering chicken from next-door's garden and fixed the hole in the fence and then I finished up by tidying everything away and watering all the pots. I'm pooped! about to have some tea and then start on the ironing ... however at least I will go to work tomorrow feeling that I made good use of my weekend! Egluntyne
Gardening, and a mega clean of the WIR. Cleaned a couple of mucky posteriors, applied louse powder to all the hens and applied bumpa bits to four more hens as I am not certain that Ola is the only feather pecker. Pegged lines and lines of washing out. too.
craftyhunnypie
Got up at 10am, had bacon & cheese oatcakes & nice senseo coffee Lounged around in PJ's fussing Orchid my cat. Got ready then stood watching the new chicks with mummy hen Marlene. Put the egg tray in the incubator to prevent mess from hatching. Only 3 days to go & it stopped turning the eggs today.Went to Lidl for bits & bobs. Made a potato salad with left over new potatoes from last night & we barbequed some sausages to have for lunch. Had a square of tiffin. Did all the chicken houses & sat on the bench watching the chooks. Avon lady came & we talked for about half an hour about hers & my chickens. Messed about with my new makeup & smellies. Sat watching the eggs in the incubator wiggling away. Opened a bottle of red. Swept the drive. Now having some fish for tea with carrot & swede . Thank god it's cool in the house with the ceiling fans - phew it's been a hot one! Got to get the brooder ready tomorrow - I reckon the silkies might hatch early the way the eggs are wiggling about. Ain't Nobody Here
First day of my diet so went for a short run then had scrambled egg (freshly laid by Maisie) with dill (from my herb garden) and smoked salmon. Two loads of washing and tidied up winter clothes & put them in the attic. Asked a neighbour up the road if I could have the broken slabs lying in her driveway. She said yes, so I now have a path of sorts alongside my raised beds . Visited my dad, did a Sainsburys shop, watered the garden, cut the grass and made Coconut Chicken out of my diet recipe book. Thumbs up from the family .
Sunshine
Woke up at 8ish and made pancakes for breakfast Heard from the vets that our dog was slightly better but they still don't know whats wrong which is worrying. Little sisters went swimming in the outdoor(not heated) swimming pool so i sat and watched them, then the rest of my family went in too. Had salad for lunch and then went to a NGS garden opening in aid of our local hospice. Had yummy cake and then stopped for an ice cream on the way home. Everyone went back in the pool except me so i read my book in the sun. Had pasta for tea whilst sitting outside. Was a great day and lovely weather, not looking forward to the end of next week when its going to get 10degrees colder!! Emma
BeckyBoo
Well I had a lovely day too : had a visit from Sandy, we sat in the sun putting the world to rights, the ex had the kids but popped back (twice ) with loads of teracotta pots and planters that someone he knew was taking to the dump which he rescued for me. When Sandy went I drove over to Burpham Court Farm to take a card and offer help with the animals (here's the link if you're not in the area - a real tragedy, http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article6379291.ece#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=797084 - a genuinely lovely nice guy, a fantastic place too - lots of pictures of my kids on various visits there as they were growing up, go to any of the news sites and check out not just the stories but the messages posted by the readers, it will tell you how much of a poorer place the world is without Farmer Bob) Anyway, came away from there, walked the dog and cleared the local well whilst I was there, then seeing as how I had all these new pots to fill it seemed churlish not to go to the garden centre! Twenty pounds later but my garden looks even MORE lovely now. Moved a bench next to the hen house as, despite ALL the places there are to sit, there was nothing that caught the evening sun, and now there is! Made tea, cleared up, had a bath with my man (my 3 1/2 yr old man that is ) then had ANOTHER unexpected visit from the ex, this time with our old friend Anne who's over from Adelaide so that was a lovely surprise. Sadly it was JUST as I was trying to get the kids down so they went into hyper mode. And now, I should be doing the ironing and sorting the school stuff, but I can't be bothered (although I'll regret not having done it in the morning!) So just having a cuppa with a slice of homeade bread and homemade raspberry jam with a dollop of fromage fair on top - like a slightly wonky cream tea! I don't want to go to work ever again, I want the kids to stay off school so I don't have to do the school run and I want to stay and play in the garden in the sun for ever! Snowy
What a fab day - it's lovely to read about everyone's good days! Glad you've all enjoyed it! We did church, then I left OH cooking tea and watching the children while I went out for coffee with a couple of fellow crafters; back home I actually managed to SUNBATHE! That's right - 2 whole hours lying in the sun doing absolutely nothing! Can't remember when I last did that! (although I did struggle - I took some crochet with me and managed to do a little bit ); lovely tea of roast chicken salad all prepped by OH and eaten al fresco; little ones to bed and have just watched that Night in the Museum film. Cracking day!
bigmommasally
Flew out of bed at 6.05 am as chickens were making a racket, let them out, made their morning mash mush (does anyone else still give the girls hot mush in the summer) let the bunnies out and fed them, put the torts out and fed them. Then realised that it supposed to have been my turn for a lie in but crafty OH had slept through the chickens dawn chorus. Popped to Focus and Morrisons to buy some garden wire and latern hooks (as recommended by rabbitfluff (Thanks Rabbitfluff) in Eglu cubes and runs section to section off the garden as I'm fed up with the girls eating all the flowers and pooping on the patio. Then helped OH put together the new rabbit house and WIR see pics on my thread here: http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=43961&view=unread#unread Had yummy poached eggs for lunch - my fav Dismantled the old bunny run (well OH did) and I cleaned out the old rabbit house ready to give back to the torts, poor things haven't had a house in their outside run for months - luckily they don't use it that much. Got to do a bit of patchwork (making a tea cosy) but mum came round for her dinner so had to stop. spent several hours posting photos of new bunny house on here and on facebook (friends on facebook most amused that I posted over 60 photos of the rabbit run) and 2 other bunny forums in between all this I managed to do all the washing and cook a roast chicken salad with roast pots. Mum had made a lovely lemon meriegne pie for dessert Brilliant thread - its lovely reading about everyones day, like Beckyboo I don't want to go to work tomorrow I want to stay home too. Good Luck with you A levels ChrisP - it will be worth it when you're partying (I mean studying) at uni.
jenimac
Unlike the rest of you lucky people, I was at work today! At least it was my last shift of the week and after I have finished my 'on call' at 0800 tomorrow morning I have the next two days off. I hope the weather is as good tomorrow so that I too can get all the outside jobs done.
Lewis
Got up at 11ish, attempted to do some Biology but sat on the laptop for an hour. Went out into the garden + let the chickens free range while I sat revising. Kept going in for food (just discovered quorn scotch eggs and they are ). Did a bit more revision. Went round to my aunties then went to Sainsburys + saw some teachers there. Got back and did more internetting, bit more revision. Had tea -tuna salad with new potatoes + olives etc. Mom tested me on my Biology. Went back to my aunties and had a go on my other uncles trike boom 3 wheeled motorbike thing. More revision. Dad got back from Brussels. More internetting and now were here It sounds like I've done loads of revision from that, but I don't feel ready and haven't done as much as it sounds Is that a tortoise I spy? its huuuuge! bigmommasally
Is that a tortoise I spy? its huuuuge! No that's a full black sack of rubbish in the old rabbit run. Sorry not a very clear photo when its so small - the tortoise run isn't is the photo, my torts are only about 14cms diameter. Hope the biology exam go well.
