Peaches
I let the girls out this morning - they free-range - and when I went to check on them half an hour ago, all we could find was three clumps of feathers in different parts of the garden. It looks like a fox got all 3. I'm devastated. I should have kept them in the run as neighbours have had fox attacks, but I thought we were okay now. Good bye girls. I'm sorry I didn't look after you better. Fi
poachedegg
Oh what a shame. Don't beat yourself up - you were only doing what you thought best. x
Blackrocksrock
Are you sure that they are all gone and not one hiding somewhere in fright? I am so sorry for your loss and mine also get out to free range all day and I hope they are safe but I feel the run is too small for them in the eglu run and when I put the retting up they fly over it no bother!!! WitchHazel
WHat a horrible thing to happen. <> to you and your family. I see from your signature that your Girls were ex-batts, so at least they had time to taste freedom and feel the sun on their backs. Try not to beat yourself up about it, it's done now. clucky h
Oh Peaches how sad. As the others have said, don't blame yourself, quite the opposite: you've given them a happy life which they otherwise would never have had. Hugs x

Sarahw12
Awww, I'm sorry. I think it's a learning process- how to keep your chooks safe- I reckon most people slip up on the way to getting it sorted. I know I have.

jlo
Really sorry to hear of this. It only takes a couple of minutes and we all have to balance the freedom with the dangers. I know that I don't like keeping the girls in the run all the time but nor do I have the time to supervise them 100% of their freeranging time so it is a risk that I run too. Please don't feel bad about it!
Electricbarbarella
I am so sorry as others have said it could be any of us and is definatley not your fault.
Guest
My ducks free ranged for 4 1/2 years but they were all killed in their wooden house early one morning...the fox had broken in and I had just missed it(they were all still warm) only one Ayelsbury survived. So this is why fox is so cunning...quiet predator mostly. Lulls us into a false sense Have a few days and your ex batts had a better time than their original life...so sorry indie
