*mummy_hen*
I use the internet to buy just about anything so this week thought why not try doing our food shopping online, i have a collection of old receipts i can check that i haven't fogot anything from.....easy! It is driving me mad! For the last 2 days i have spent at least an hour at the computer making my way through the ridiculous system that is Waitrose online....i now admit defeat and think i am going to have to go and do the shopping the 'good old fashioned way' after work one day this week...i could have done it in the time i have been messing about trying to find everything online!! Does anyone actually get on with online food shopping, i just don't think i have the patience to mess about with it!
Space Chick
Stick with it, it saves so much time once you've gone through the initial pain! As it will remember your favourites (well Sainburys and Tescos do). I do all my grocerys online (through Sainsburys - I'm boycotting Tescos!), I get my veg online through Riverford, and I email my organic meat supplier who delivers my meat to work! What did I do before the internet Good news is, the time I'd spend fighting a trolley I can be on here instead
Ygerna
Ocado is fab, stick with it. If you have your shopping list to hand, you can just search for what you want, rather than traipsing round the imaginary shelves. This reminds me, I must do a shop... Tessa the Duchess
I say stick with it too. The first time you do it it can take ages because you have to find where everything is, but after that you just use the same shopping list next time you shop and add or subtract where appropriate. I can do a big shop in under 10 minutes which is fabulous because I hate supermarket shopping. Tessa
Chucky Mama
I have to say that of all the online grocery options I find Waitrose the most frustrating and slow. I find the search facility really bad which makes everything so slow. It takes me forever to find something like dried pasta. I do think that online shopping for groceries good but you need endless time and patience for Waitrose. I remember my worse ever substitution from Tescos; I had ordered mozzorella to make a pizza and they sent me dairylea cheese spread instead
Redwing
We use Sainsburys and find them very good, they at first insisted on sending meat quite near its sell by date but we sent them an email saying we would go elsewhere if they kept doing it and all has been well since
Faye&Ant
I say stick with it too. I use Waitrose and love the fact they keep old shopping lists so as I am a creature of habit, ending up using the same list again and again I also love Waitrose recommendations etc. Im sorry to hear you found it frustrating as I find it sooo much easier than making my way round a supermarket with a disobedient trolley. Also I find the delivery people so friendly
Ygerna
Ocado also has some wonderful recipes on the site, I use them quite often I have never had a substitution yet, and the delivery people have always been very smartly turned out and polite (sadly I can't say this for the others I have tried). Quite often you get free samples too. I really like the one hour delivery slots because I am in and out all day doing 3 school runs I need to know the exact hour they will be coming, the two hour slots given by the others always overlap my not being in the house and you can be certain if I booked one, they would come two minutes after I left the house. (can you tell I am a BIG fan of Ocado )
Tessa the Duchess
I am a big fan of Sainsburys They always 'phone if they are going to be early with the delivery and once, when they were 10 minutes late, they gave me a £10 voucher towards my next shop, I get free samples too Tessa
Sunshine
I enjoy food shopping (am i mad?) I have to have a list though otherwise my mind goes blank when i get there and i can never think of any meals to buy. I always volunteer to go for mum and if she goes i often go with her. Snowy
Stick with it - I agree, the first time is the worst! Once you receive that first delivery, you will never look back!
sunshinesupernova
I dont use it often - but I do sometimes shop online with Tesco. As you say - painstaking first time - but gts easier and easier the more of your regular shops are remembered. Check out www.hotukdeals.com for discount codes on your shopping. Craziest ever thing I managed to do was order ONE lychee rather than one kilo of lychees !!!! I'm a lychee fanatic when they are in season... I registered a couple of weeks ago with waitrose as recommended by my sister to be the best but completely agree I couldnt find what I wanted easily and gave up! Dont like Tesco but have ended up still shopping there(I try to buy locally too) Perhaps I will have another go but all the brands that came up I never recognised some of them and just got frustrated as you..I thought it was just me
abwsco
Definately try Ocado if you can. My shopping takes me about 10 minutes to do online now
Guest
I will give it another try I was on there for about 2 hours and hadnt spent enough as I couldnt find things easily, I thought I wasnt posh enough as half the brands I didnt know(I am probably not posh enough).. I will give it another go they keep sending me vouchers..but I just gave up
sadietoo
I find Sainburys site the best...also they offer a cheaper delivery cost for certain times and days ( all of which suit me!) persevere, you won't look back!
Guest
Yes I may give Sainsburys a go as I have used Tesco before but Sainsburys has got some nice food instore these days(I usually go to Tesco & we come home not knowing what to have for tea) How daft is that! The Dogmother
I use Ocado - I shop online because I refuse to patronise Te$co or Sainsbury with their rubbish ethics. My street is very hard to park in of an evening and I hate having to double-park, rush the shopping into the porch, go and park the car in the next road, then come back to take it all in. Ocado have been consistently brilliant for me and their drivers are courtesy personified - last year when I was laid up after an operation they brought it all in for me refused to let me help. Yorkshire Pudding
I've also had brilliant service from Ocado and now don't use any others, however many vouchers they may send me! No substitutions, quality stuff, polite drivers and lots of freebies. Top service!
Space Chick
I'd use Ocado, but sadly they don't deliver to my area However, I'd rather use Sainsburys than Tesco. I think Sainsburys ethics whilst not perfect are much better than Tesco. The evil scum are selling whole cooked chickens for £1.50 this week. A friend was saying what a bargain it was - so I asked her what was a good price for a life? What kind of life would it have had if its being sold and cooked at that for £1.50? hillfamily
I'm an ocado fan ...... I've been using them for a few years and wouldn't ever go back to doing my food shop at the supermarket :D The first shop took a while to set up, finding the products I wanted, navigating the website etc, but after that, it now remembers what I have purchased in the past and shopping hardly takes anytime at all

I love Sainsburys. Their customer service is excellent, they never quibble if you ring up about a missing item and their staff are very polite. I hate shopping so online shopping is a must for me. I've been having it delivered for years and would be lost without it. It's easy once you have done your 1st list - that is the hardest part. poachedegg
Another vote for Ocado - always on time (if not early), always courteous and never had any substitutions.

They breed and rear them here, slaughter and chill, then ship abroad to cheap labour for prepping then ship back here to sell They don't make any money on them - it's a loss leader Sorry *gets off soapbox*
katieadams
Do it via mysupermarket.com, the process is easier than any of the online supermarkets are directly, and then it simply sends your trolley to your chosen supermarket! It does a price check for you so if you've missed out on a promotion or there's a cheaper alternative you can swap if you want to, and if halfway through you fancy switching supermarkets you can and it puts you an equivalent load from your chosen supermarket. There's a convenient little bar chart across the top showing you what your trolley would cost in each of the other supermarkets too! Dead easy and much better set out than any of the supermarkets own sites
