Alis girls
Liked his 80's music when he had a sense of "normality" still. But with all the child molestation charges I didnt feel quite the same. sad that 3? children have been left fatherless. Apparently madonna hasnt stopped crying, good job she has a nanny to look after her increasing brood - i have little time for these people. Friends spent £300 on tickets, hope they get their money back

Cinnamon
Very sad news. I was no great fan,but he was an icon & a legend. A massive talent & probably the last true pop star, a sad day indeed.
Raina
I was up pretty much all night watching the news My 10 yr old Nephew is absolutely gutted he was a massive fan he listened to his music since he was a baby, his mum rang up crying saying that Jedd wouldn't stop crying
craftyhunnypie
I did not like him at all, but his music was brilliant! He was a very wierd person, but I think his parents were over strict when he was a child. I think he also had problems with coming to terms with what sexuality he actually was. Why has his body been flown to the coroner by police helicopter? I think he has killed himself - overdose or something. We will find out later. I hope his children can lead a 'normal' life - as he did turn my stomach on many occassions! Tiggy
it is sad, but he had a very strange life, as a child he had a rotten time and as an adult he seemed unable to have a normal life (whatever that is) so I'm not suprised he died so young. I would't be suprised if he has taken his own life intentionally or otherwise, he has looked so frail on the rare occassions I have seen him on TV in recent years not a well man. I grew up with the Jackson 5 & the Osmonds on tv it was fun music and my nephew now 27 would jump around to thriller all day when he was about 6. Its a sad end for a very talented man
chickencam
My hubby woke me up at 2.30am this morning to tell me the news because he had just heard it on the radio. I grew up in the 70's and 80's when he was such a mega-star and remember standing in Woolworths R.I.P watching the Thriller video when it came out with great excitement and being thrown out with my friends because we were watching not buying. Despite being a big fan at that time, I feel for his children and people close to him but beyond that I am more sad about the demise of Woolworths. I felt far more sadness when Freddie Mercury died, shock when John Lennon died and remember clearly where I was when I heard that Elvis had died even though I was only 10 at the time. R.I.P. because he didn't have a lot of peace during his life.
craftyhunnypie
I was so scared of Thiller. All the zombies & the mini feature film. I still can't listen to the end of thriller, as the voice gives me the creeps. I have an awful imagination! Did Michael Jackson still have Bubbles the chimp? I loved him. chickencam
It freaked me a bit too, but was so different when it came out.
The Dogmother
So very, very sad. A bright light has gone out... a tainted but brilliant talent. At peace at last. My boss is a similar age, and we both grew up with Jackson 5, and later with him as a solo artist. We have youtube playing Jackson hits on in my office today
chickencam
Chris Moyles on Radio 1 has devoted the second half of his golden hour this morning to Michael Jackson tracks. It is easy to forget how good his music is.
craftyhunnypie
Anyone remember the Moonwalker movie? I like Billy Jean & the light up squares pathway. I also like Smooth Criminal. Emma.x
The Dogmother
I think I shall be getting some of my old vinyl and tapes out tonight.
chickencam
They are playing the full version of Thriller now I haven't listened to this for ages, I actually feel quite sad now
Seagazer
Again I was not a great fan but liked most of his music. He even appears in the video of my wedding reception. The DJ played his song Billie Jean and had a big screen and played the video that went with it. I feel sorry for him, for having what must have been a very strange childhood and an even stranger adulthood. I hope his children have a more normal life now. Looney
I wasn't a fan either, didn't mind his earlier music but never keen on the man himself. It is sad though, never mind for the fans, but for his close friends and family as they have stood by him through thick and thin. When he announced his comeback tour I have to admit I said it would never happen and the concerts would be cancelled
MedusA
I wouldn't call myself a huge fan (who doesn't have Thriller?), but still appreciated his talent. RIP Michael. It is a very levelling thing when people who are your contemporaries start dying around you. Someone I know, (as an acquaintence), had a massive stroke and died on Monday, at the age of 48. Makes you count your blessings.
Saronne
I grew up in Detroit during the 60s and 70s (I turned 50 this year ). As a Motown girl, I loved his stuff and remember my first record purchase - a 45 rpm of the Jackson's 'ABC'. Still makes me want to get up and dance everytime I hear it! RIP Michael. The Dogmother
There was a lot of sheer joy in that early music, wasn't there?

Redwing
Great shame the loss of a talented singer and showman
Chucky Mama
I saw him at Wembley on the Bad tour. He was awesome - before he became so bizzare. I doubted from the word go that he would ever get to the O2 but never dreamt that this would happen
Space Chick
RIP Michael, but you will forever live on in your music. My OH woke me up to tell me, why I don't know, as even though I liked a lot of his music neither one of us are fans.
kitbag
What I think is sad is that suddenly, people all over the world are saying how much they loved him. I don't know if this is because he died so suddenly. I don't think that he felt much love when he was alive, because of all the accusations made against him. I just think that its a shame. I know he knew he had lots of fans, but he just never seemed very happy.
