Egluntyne
Absolutely Siberian here today. Bright and sunny though. Main roads OK, but side roads treacherous. Chipped an inch of ice off the hen's water before I went to work, and had to do the same again when I got home at 3pm.
Valkyrie
We got off quite lightly today - sun came out and tried to help melt some of the ice on the roads. Main roads are fine - it's our little local ones that are like ice rinks. But very brrrrr at the moment.
Valkyrie
Beautiful today but still cold and icy.

Groovychook
It was very chilly overnight and we woke up to a hard frost, -3 first thing. . It's been snowing on and off ever since and everywhere looks very pretty The roads were treacherous this morning though, with snow settling on ice... It's thawed a bit during the afternoon but it's going to be very slippery after tonight's frost
Valkyrie
Reached a high of 0 degrees here - heatwave! It did feel a lot warmer than yesterday though, so I guess that must be down to the wind chill before. Was warm last night too - didn't need to hunt for a dressing gown to put over me in bed. Still an ice rink outside - gritted the rest of the road but not the cul-de-sac.
susanbb
Thick ice here. Now -5c. Cold...brrrr!
Valkyrie
Feels quite warm outside - considering the hour and it has snowed a little, but seems to be rain in the air. Good, it'll melt this ice.
Christian
I went to bed around 2am and it was raining. -4 now this morning and everything is frozen solid.
Valkyrie
Same as Christian - the rain has left holes in the snow but there wasn't enough of it to clear the ice. The warm wind last night (or in the early hours) was coming from the south, but it's still frosty at the moment.
Christian
Morning 'neighbour' Did you get snow this week Koojie? We had a dusting, looked more like a hard frost
Valkyrie
Hi Christian - yes we were more under that blooming snow cloud than you I think - luckily only about an inch or so. Still enough to be a pain on the roads here. This morning has a light dusting a bit like the icing sugar sprinkled on a cake. But still frosty. The girls have been whingeing about it, but they soon stopped when they discovered the wild bird food and are jealously guarding it between the four of them. Can't move the icy snow out of the way without ripping up the grass. As I look out of the front window it's all sparling and very pretty.
Groovychook
Slightly milder today, so the thaw continues. Still some frozen snow left and very slippery underfoot!
Cinnamon
We still have a good 3 inches of rock solid snow here, & long icicles hanging from the gutters. Its freeeeezing out & so slippery The roads are a nightmare, the one I am on is still white from the inch or so we had last night.
Old Speckled Hen
4 inches of snow and more to come
welovemarmite
very disappointed to find no new snow this morning, but instead a lovely ice rink down our drive and onto the road.
Old Speckled Hen
More snow overnight. Normally I'd be ecstatic but I have to get down to London and back before Christmas.
The Dogmother
Still sub-zero here and treacherous, but it is clouding over. The forecast this morning said that most places will get snow today.
Valkyrie
After a slippery morning, the rain has arrived and melting the ice. Never thought I'd be pleased to see it - but if it freezes tonight that won't be too good.
Valkyrie
It's raining snow again. Big thick chunks, but they are quite wet because they are dropping straight down and not fluttering. Bahhhhhh HUMBUGGGGG!
Old Speckled Hen
Let it snow let it snow let it snow. Have all my shopping done, mum's happy spending Christmas with my sister and my daughter is getting the train up
The Dogmother
That's good news OSH Glad you don't have to go down to herts; my folks live not far from where you need to go and they've had more snow than we have.
ali-s
Thick freezing fog here. I was glad to get home from work after the slippery sliding there this morning.
Valkyrie
Getting quite thick here now - it's relentless. I've looked on Accuweather and it says we should get 4.5 cms during the night! It's already that - oh good it'll stop soon then. This was last week - the snow is deeper than that now and you can't see where the grass, path or road begins - totally smothered. Groovychook
Not quite so cold today and no more snow, but what's left is frozen solid. We live at the bottom of a steep track and trying to get out this morning was... interesting !!!
