Valkyrie
Ooh thanks - bookmarked that - The Cotton Patch doesn't do it, so my little pot from the shop in Staines (now closed down) was being heavily rationed.
Guest
Cheap but hot, exfoliate your hands, then apply copious quantities of vaseline, put gloves on then sleep that way - works for feet too! Big fan of vaseline my children always laughed as they grew up on vaseline cures everthing! yep latex free gloves on overnight too will help and bathe in Oilatum or Hydromol (bath can become slippery) Udder cream good too and I do find bathing in the lotions really helps.good luck..carry some around with you as well to keep applying it good luck indie
Seagazer
This is quite timely as I just have a really sore patch on my finger that cracked and is now starting to heal. Boy it does get painfull. I should ask to borrow my mum's 8 hour cream, we bought her some for babysitting for us. I wonder if she'll mind

welovemarmite
hands extremely sore this morning - going to have a day of calendula and badger balm. If no improvement on Friday will send hubbie into debenhams to get some 8 hour cream. I am sure they must sell it in there or one of the other department stores. He has to go and finish his xmas shopping.....

FORENSICA
Well I should give the Udderly smooth try then as some of you like it. Now I am confused about the links ..do you mean this one? http://www.creativegrids.com/acatalog/info_1_N0539.html or this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Udderly-Smooth-Udder-Cream-Redex/dp/B0000AS54S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1260961740&sr=8-
Valkyrie
Either - and remember to wash the udder and teat parts thoroughly with soap and clean water before each milking to avoid contamination of milk!
The Dogmother
The one with urea in it is the best one to get - sounds ghastly, but it's a fabulous skin softener. Doesn't smell of wee one bit either
Valkyrie
I agree and make sure it goes into the cracks - it does have a nice smell too.

Valkyrie
I lent my little pot to a neighbour who had been suffering with mastitis (spelling???? but you know what I mean) - she said it worked a treat and it was the best thing she'd ever had for her dry hands! welovemarmite
update calendula cream (as recommended in the health shop) has 'soothed ' my hands but they feel really dry..... and so therefore sore in a different way if you know what i mean.. The Dogmother
You poor thing, I get that too when they crack. I just squirt some vet wound powder on it and bind it up! I hope it gets better soon. I have some Bactroban cream somewhere if you want to borrow it, that's very good.
welovemarmite
i am deciding that the vets will be a better trip than the docs... he he he
Valkyrie
Similar professions! Try a pot of magnesium sulphate - put a dab on a plaster and wrap it around the infection - it draws it out (and is quite painless). Great for splinters and the like - you need to mix the stuff in the pot first - it goes a bit like cornflour when it settles.
Seagazer
Ooh sounds nasty. I'm about to order the udder cream stuff as just as one patch has started to heal up on my finger I can feel a familiar itch starting a bit further down my finger. Geoid
Cracked hands, haven't had any this year (nice thick gloves). But beforehand, my skin used to crack on the joints, so if i moved my hand, the wound would open up again, took ages to heal.

Just keeps reopening, can't believe how sore it can get. I've got lovely thinsulate gloves which keep my hands toasty each time I'm outside but I thinks its the amount of time I spend with my hands in water. I buy rubber gloves but forget to put them on.
