Lewis
The chickens met the ducks properly for the first time this morning I let them all out, the PP's ran down to the patio but the banties stayed at the top so I bought them all days but they all legged it back up There was a bit of "Whats that white thing? " "Whats that black thing? " ... but once the salad and mealworms were out everyone forgot stayed back a bit (and tried to eat a shoe ) but were ok with the PP's Have uploaded a video

Egluntyne
I love the way they are all pretending not to have noticed the strangers.

Lewis
Did the same today just to get them all used to each other as they'll eventually all be living together, and still no pecks or signs of aggression from either side I did wander wether Gerald(ine) being a drake could have anything to do with it Purkinje came down to the patio today to see what was going on but stayed out of the way of the PP's ... there's more of a problem with integrating the chicks and PP's even though they've been free-ranging together for 2 months! I think its because the banties + Purkinje stay at the top of the garden and keep themselves to themselves Jemima on the step by the door: The pond doesn't have time to freeze properly because they just jump in + crack the ice so it gets slushy on the top "Ooh, I'll have me some of that slushy duck water"
Valkyrie
Ahhh they're lovely. Perhaps the ducks like cheese?
Plum
So cute, they must have gentle feet not to burst the pond
Lewis
Cheesy feet Koojie? That paddling pool is only temporary but its really easy to empty and refill, I saw a few things in B&Q we thought we could use, so when everythings sorted with the Go and WIR we'll sort out a pond I have read they could pop it but its only cheap and we haven't had a problem so far ... would rather them have something for now rather than nothing
Valkyrie
Now I'm wondering as to whom those shoes belong! Our girls have our old turtle sandpit to play in, so seems right that the duck should have a kiddies paddling pool.
Lewis
Now I'm wondering as to whom those shoes belong! Father! They're always by the back door to go out and do the guinea pig/chickens though
jayjay
Great vid and gorgeous duckies. My pair also have a fascination for shoes - they come in the back door when it is open and attack the shoe rack So I don't think it's just your cheese lewis! Valkyrie
I think you ought to have a gentle word with your dad! When my 2 were young we went on holiday with MIL - she had such smelly slippers that when she was sitting reading with her feet up in the garden, the farm dog pinched one, chewed it and buried it. She thought we pinched them - until the farmer returned the item (holding at arms' length!).
batcatz
ah they are lovely. I really want ducks! sigh.
Lewis
They're really funny Bought them a tub trug yesterday as another little pond for now, Gerald got straight in and splashed about, Jemima was jealous and waddling around. Got in the blue pond then ran off again She managed to use the steps and get in, then out and fell off the step She's a bit more graceful today The chickens are all getting on a bit better now, they've been out together a lot more because we've been out in the snow. Still no aggression to or from the ducks from them, tried to get some group photos on the snow ... the ducks run off down the garden and the banties run back to the
