Guest
Debs, I have only just seen this. Poor you - what a terrible thing to happen. I know it sounds really stupid, but I am always surprised that accidents happen without any warning! I can't really explain it except that 'if I had known that was going to happen, then I would have . . .etc' It's usually the shopping, ironing, buying that present or similar that I could have done yesterday, but left until today. I hope you start to feel better soon. It's always such a shock to fall over when you're an adult isn't it? (Not that I frequently fall over of course! )
Sheilaz
Debs, I've brought you lots of sympathy! It would have been tea & sympathy, but just a cold drink through a straw for now, I'll bring the tea when yopur mouth is healed. I've twice had a bashed up face, once from playing "ghost trains" aged 7, which involved running along the seat of a playground bench and jumping over the arm rest..ooops, missed, flat on face. Progressed from straw only, to teaspoon, & mostly icecream. 2nd time, a decade later, motorbike...lucky to be here, but my face took the only injuries! So, I know it really hurts, & offer you tons of hugs & sympathy. However, although the face swells & bleeds easily, it also heals well. If you give yourself complete rest, your body will heal itself quickly, well in time for Edinburgh. Really, work & worries can wait, and I'm sure your lovely family will step in. Curl up with a hot water bottle & rest until youi feel mended. Lots of love, xx
Lesley
Hope you soon feel better Debs - and you must be better in time for next week! I have tripped over a raised slab and gone down the claim route witha 'No win , No fee' set up. I took photos, with a matchbox to show the state of the slabs, but the lawyers wouldn't proceed because the Council won't accept that anything under 2" is negligent. The slab I tripped on was raised by more than the height of the matchbox side, but not 2" It is still worth checking - not all councils may operate the same standards. I put my arms out to break my fall - and dislocated my jaw
Mrs Frugal
Mum dislocated her finger tripping over a paving slab. They are so dangerous. They're putting tarmac down where she lives now as they were so loose and wobbly.

Lesley
Glad you're feeling a bit better today Debs. Isn't it strange that when we're really rushed off our feet, we think it would be nice to laze around doing nothing - but then when it becomes enforced, we find it a real pain? Mel (& Paul)
Debs, I am not a fan of "compensation culture" but if you are going to start incurring costs for dental treatment etc, I would recommend seriously thinking about contacting a solicitor Melx
