Star spotting

Recommended Posts

Today the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are coming to work for a visit :D I have polished glasses and folded linen napkins for them, and a 101 different things in preparation.

Also at work I have met Matthew Fox (Lost). Twice in fact. I didn't know who he was and had to be told. The second time I didn't recognise him again although it was only 3 weeks since the first visit. I served him Haggis  and was asked by him what it was

Work again. Jack Dee. I did know who he was.

How on earth can you not know who Matthew Fox is... and to not recognise him second time round! Tut Tut :drool:

Had a lovely woman through my till today with the most gorgeous little toddler boy,who was sort of part Asian looking.

Anyhow,I dodn't recognise her,but she was katy Hill (I think) who used to be a Blue Peter presenter. The other young cashiers told me this (they didn't know who Rodney Bewes was & he was in today too :lol: )

Updating this as I have had a good week this week :D

I had Nick Heyward come to my till - he is the lead singer in the 80's band Haircut 100.

He was ever so nice,& as I used to have his poster on my wall,I allowed myself a small swoon.

Then Liam Gallagher was in too. Miserable so & so he is

Yesterday I turned around to the till behind me & Richard Curtis was being served there. He was having trouble with his credit card not working properly, but again was really nice & chatty.

After that, later in the day, Janine Duvitski from Benidorm & Abigails party was in,& so was Sandra Dickinson, from Hitchikers Guide among other things.

Bearing in mind that I only work 12 hours a week,it was a pretty good one for spotting people this week!

Wow you really do get some celebs in don't you.

The only people from tv that I've seen locally are Gary Bushell (apparently he was a tv reviewer for the Sun and has been on tv) and Craig Fairbass who was in Eastenders and also in a few films. He used to go to the same gym.

My ES has seen Heather from Eastenders in the pub a few times, apparently she lives locally. I also walk around the park sometimes with a man who used to be in It Ain't Half Hot Mum, but not one of the main actors. I can never remember his name..... We have Rose Bruford drama college near us and get a lot of actors teaching there.

My mum used to date Dennis Waterman. Apparently he was much better looking when he was younger :lol:

Wern't we all, dear??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lol: Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder who the wrinkled old bat with the dead badger on her head is (going grey down the middle!) Oh no, its me :boohoo:

Well.......you get used to star spotting at work - we had Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law the last couple of years and of course Mr Ritchie.

Les Mis' is to be filmed there next - so it's Russell Crowe (yuk), Hugh JAckman (good- The Prestige being one of my favourite films) and Helena Bonham-Carter to name a few....

Oh! and we have the Antiques Roadshow coming in September!

Add to that the usual smattering of celebs who come in to film bit's and bobs all year round - we should be kept busy!

That's not forgetting the ones we get as visitors! The times i've had people on tours and thought "you look familiar" only to have someone say to me later "did you see so-and-so?" ......

Where do you work Louisewomble?

I am assuming its somewhere beautiful & historical.....or a supermarket!

We get a lot of filming in this area too.

My biggest regret is not joining my friend in a filming stake out once.....it turned out to be Daniel Craig doing a Bond movie.

My friend could see him running up & down her road.

Personally I would have been right behind him

At the beginning of the 90's I used to work in the WH Smith in Kensington High Street. I regularly served (Sir) Trevor McDonald as he had a flat above the store (very posh too!). He's a lovely man. I also served Princess Diana who came in regularly & was lovely to us all. She always asked me how I was doing when I was pregnant with ES. I served another nameless Royal who had no concept of money & who had to be given an on the spot tutorial from her daughter

One of the Proclaimer's sons was in my son's class at school (I didn't believe OH when he said he'd seen a Proclaimer in the playground  ) and I used to see J K Rowling, Ian Rankin and Alexander McColl Smith in my local Starbucks (sometimes at the same time but they were never together  ).

Not really star spotting but Gavin Hastings was in my class at school (but that's obviously going back a bit  ).
