Olly
Welcome to the forum - it's amazing how quickly they take over your life (and garden!). I believe Blue Haze and Bluebelle are the same breed - I have a Bluebelle and she's lovely.
Yellowjedi
Thanks Olly. Stupid question time - was going to set up a signature but can't find the "options" thingy in my profile - do I need to switch something else on somewhere? Thanks
Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum . Sounds like you (and your OH!) have well and truly been bitten by the chicken bug . You have to rack up about 6 posts before being able to to signatures etc. A few more posts and you'll be there!

kentuckyfried
Hello! I have been the very proud owner of a pink eglu classic and 3 ex batts for a whole week now I am in Wigston, Leics, and the chickens have been bought mainly for my little boy, Alex, who is 2. He has communication difficulties and we thought a pet would be good for him. We are completely blown away by his reaction- this week he has learned the sign and word for chicken, and has wanted to spend all of his time in the garden with the chickens- the other night he wanted to take one to bed with him instead of his teddy! The hens are great- we have had an egg per day each since their arrival. They are called Elizabeth, Camilla and Catherine as they arrived on Jubilee Saturday. Looking forward to spending more time getting to know others, locally and further afield! Katrina PS- feel free to move this if there is a dedicated introductions thread somewhere

Chicken addict
Hello everyone I'm an accidental chicken keeper. I inherited a very old Maran ( I think) with my house which led to two lovely girls, Belle and Speckles being given to me as a mothers day present. With the chickens came 8 hatching eggs. We managed to hatch 2 Orpington boys and have kept the very handsome Buffy ( we thought he was a girl at first). Over time we've collected a total of 10 chickens, much to the frustration of OH( who secretly loves them). What fantastic pets, I'd have more but I'd get into trouble! Vikki56
Hello everyone, congratulations on a well run & friendly forum! Have only been on here a short while but everyone on here has been so welcoming & helpful, so thank you so much. A friend of mine is chicken mad and bought me 2 arucanas for my birthday a couple of years ago Alice Bella . Unfortunately she got a bit too attached to them before my birthday and they now live permanently with her but this did lead me to filling the chicken shape hole in my life with this lot Aurora Bellatrix Ginny Mineva Trelawney the five fantastic ex batts, we then inherited Bea Hattie (also ex batts) from a friend who is moving to Dubai. Sadly this week we lost Hattie to old age and Trelawney had to be put to sleep. Bea is getting to know the other ex batts which would leave us with a 'spare' eglu. Boyfriend suggested we go and look at some chicks this afternoon (I think to cheer me up) and has reminded me its my birthday soon & he has not (as yet) got me a present. Maybe time to attempt arucana keeping again? We'll see

Heather_256715
Hi, I'm new here too and I have 12 chickens in total. Seven adorable silkies, a barnevelder, light sussex, black rock and two mixed breeds. I also have up to 20 ducks that grace my once-neat garden with their presence....!! I am looking forward to getting my questions answered and also hopefully answering some of others, Heather.
stevegl3
My wife has been wanting chucks for a while, so we decided to join the forum and get an understanding of chicken keeping before we purchased a coop & chickens. We have come across a coop on the site we would like to enquire about and it seems we have to go through the PM to forward an query. Our first query is who or what is the PM and how do we make contact? As this information I have been unable to find and my wife really wants to get some chucks soonest. rocketbunni
Hello I'm Linzi I'm living in Banbury Oxfordshire with 10 chickens 2 ducks 2 Rabbits and a cat, I have only been a chook keeper for 18 months or so, I started with a mini incubater just for the excitement of hatching, of course I only hatched one female, (black Orp -Lexi) so once the two boys were gone I bought her a friend (blue pekin X-Lulu) then I had a go at hatching black east indie ducks and got just one boy again (duffy) I bought him 2 female friends but one turned out to be a drake so he got rehomed reluctantly ...then his sister became very unhappy because he had gone, and quacked constantly so we rehomed her too, and got a runner drake to befriend duffy, then Lulu went broody this spring and I bought some SL wyandotte eggs of a breeder friend, she hatched 5 ...all boys ...anyway I returned them to the breeder as agreed and discussions led to the fact he was moving home and couldnt take his birds, I agreed to take his female growers and two old girls who would be culled if not rehomed so we have Connie the Ancona and Princess Scrawney the silkie, the three growers are now POL and we are keeping just one -Madeline. Added to those are my seramas I hatched 5 out in the incubator about 9 weeks ago, of course I got 4 boys and one girl 2 boys have now been rehomed and I'm on the hunt for more girls to balance things out look forward to chatting to you all
