Omlet Staff james Posted April 3, 2007 Omlet Staff Share Posted April 3, 2007 Hi guys, We have just put the some information pages on the eglu cube complete with pictures of the inside and dimensions here: http://www.omlet.co.uk/products_services/products_services.php?view=Eglu%20Cube Delivery Time Although the first eglu parts have started to come off the production line, we are expecting production tweaks and testing to last about 3-4 weeks. We will be fleshing out the site with more information over the next weeks, in the meantime don't hesitate to give us a call to find out more. Cheerio, James

Gallina
James hasn't got the links right yet. After the first page, you should go to this page, not to the payment page.
theherd123
Thank you James, all the information is very much appreciated.
ubereglu
I still don't know whether I like it. I won't be getting one anyway-as it's too expensive and I'm not allowed that many chickens. Personally I think it would be better just to buy two Mark 2 eglu's, as it's a more flexible way to do it.
Gallina
I should have said thank you too. But it's too dark to go out and do the measurements now! The crucial figures as I see them: Length 2m (which can be lengthened by two 1m extensions). (Room needed at front to get access to feed and at back to poo trays, as before.) Width including skirt: 160cm Height of cube + run: 120 cm Eggport is on same side as before, but handle for opening the door is on the opposite side. Have I got this right? If so, this has serious implications for me (may involve redesign of garden).
One Man Banned
Eggport is on same side as before, but handle for opening the door is on the opposite side. Have I got this right? If so, this has serious implications for me (may involve redesign of garden). Hadn't noticed that bit - will also have to consider that when measuring up the garden. Note to self: Do not let Joe see this topic - he'll talk me out of getting one! A xx
Gallina
I am not sure I am right about the need for space on both sides: do please check with Omlet. This is how I interpret what I have seen: This picture shows the door and the door-opening mechanism on what I would describe as the far side (the side that most of us with modest gardens have had to ram up against the fence or wall, and can't get at). This picture of the Eglu cube from the back shows that the nest is on the opposite side to the door, in the same place as before (the near side). And this picture shows the egg-port door on the near side as with the current Eglu, but there is no sign of another way to open the door here. It looks to me as though you need to have access to both sides of the Eglu cube, which makes the width considerable.
bronze
the clearest pic does show the handle as being the same side as the port. but the port should be on the nest side so I can only assume there is two ports in case you need to get at a chook in the roosting area. Looking again it does seems as if there are two ports

Egluntyne
I find myself confused about the scale. This picture shows the cube to be approximately adult waist height. whereas here it appears to be adult shoulder height. What am I missing? Martin B
I think that the second one is computer generated!
Egluntyne
I think that the second one is computer generated! I wondered if the person shown was "vertically challenged"!
feemcg
What happens to the sticky out handle once you've pulled the door closed, I wonder?

ubereglu
I'm not sure, but I would have thought that it would tuck away neatly somehow.
Gallina
Does it matter? The handle would only be sticking out at night, and wiould only get in your way if you are a night prowler. I don't want any cleverly recesssed handle first thing in the morning: I just need something I can blearily grab.

Sheilaz
Is it the sort you see in really old films, with a running board? The Riley I mean, not the cube. I've always wanted one of those. (Both items ).
Paola
Is it the sort you see in really old films, with a running board? The Riley I mean, not the cube. I've always wanted one of those. (Both items ). Its not that old Its basically a Mk 2 Mini with a proper boot and a larger front grille. It has sliding windows and outside door hinges
Sheilaz
Oh, I won't buy it then! Sounds cool, but I was thinking more of Lauren Bacall & Humphrey Bogart...has to have a running board.

Thinking about it in in the far distant and not sure if the Cochin's would be bothered to climb, as it is Tilly likes to sit and watch the world go by BBx
