Lewis
Know there are a few other people + family members off to Uni over the last/coming few weeks - hope everyone is settling in ok Arrived in Aberystwyth yesterday - met a few of my housemates. Went to the freshers BBQ + then the Student Union last night Its so scary + wierd living here, away from home + everyone/everything!! Been texting everyone + already spoke to Mom a few times - bit worried I think Had a fire alarm go off at 4am today, outside in the freezing cold they moved us to a reception, then back after half an hour... Think it was some sort of towel caught on fire. Then, another one go off at 11am ... I was in the shower! Got dressed + went outside, this was just a false alarm

Ain't Nobody Here
Glad you're settling in, Lewis . My ES is home at the moment and seems a lot happier (he's not saying much but I'm getting that general impression ). I think you've hit the nail on the head with your comment .. Its so scary + wierd living here, away from home + everyone/everything! Hope it all gets less scary and wierd very soon .
craftyhunnypie
Have a look in CRAFT once you've settled in. It's a second hand / recycling shop on the station platform. It's has some good stuff & is very interesting to have a nosey at. Oh & if you get a nice day, The Hut on South Beach is nice to sit & have ice cream. Curry night - Thursdays at Wetherspoons, Lidl & Iceland are round that way too. You'll be fine! Just get making some of your home brew! Oh & if you're still scared in a couple or so weeks, remember we are coming there. So can buy you a pint & talk chickens. A bit of normality for you! Valkyrie
Just remember do not put your towel to dry in the oven. Or call Space Chicky over for a visit first and then she can see her firemen! Hope it's better from now on.

LisaP
Glad you're settling in ok Lewis. My ES and DD will be doing the same this time next year and I'm sure they'll find it exciting and strange at the same time Lisa P
Seagazer
It will all probably seem 'normal' to you soon. From what I can remember when DD went there for her first year she threw herself into so many different groups and things. My DD really misses being at uni (actually she's back up there now visiting her boyfriend who is continuing with his architecture degree - so many years !!). Good luck

We walked past a clothes shop + there was a cat in the window!! Got a photo, will try + put it on later Has she decided which course yet Sarah? Valkyrie
I remember someone in our family having a book which entirely consisted of different ways to cook mince (or Quorn and soya can be adapted for veggies) .
Couperwife
I used to have a cookbook called Grub on a Grant it was brilliant - it gave loads of recipes from beans on toast, to entertaining a group of people, to entertaining and impressing a potential partner it told you what pans you need and what dishes and utensils are useful i think you might need a copy of it Lewis cathy x
craftyhunnypie
I've got both books somewhere! Grub on a grant was brilliant. I think it even had a birthday cake etc in it. Tuna pasta bake with cheese & crunched up crisps on the top was a dish I remember. Mmm Emma.x
Lewis
Just got in from the SU quiz ... we got 41/60 Just munched some cheese on toast - I can cook, just can't be bothered + haven't had time! Tuna bake + crisps sounds good Have told all the flatmates I'll cry if they buy battery eggs or chicken When I mentioned my 'chicken friends' I got a few funny looks Have bought wayy too much stuff with me, kitchen stuff + that. Unpacked most things earlier so its looking tidier ... Omlet calendar is yet to go up - need to buy a hook from town + some cellotape to put a collage Nat made me up
