Snow

Recommended Posts

Minus 2 here. A bit foggy and thick frost. Aborted a trip into B'stoke because of all the cars queuing to get into a car park - most of which were already full. But at least the car had a nice run because it's been standing idle for nearly 2 weeks. There was a little snow flurry - tiny bits of sleet in B'stoke but we haven't had any here. One of the most odd things is that the oak tree in the garden still has loads of leaves on it. Plus with the recent cold weather the elder trees leaves are looking limp, but still green. They should all be bare now!!!!! :? The worst road as usual is still ours - what's the betting that the postie still doesn't turn up yet again (but when the postie does, there is one almighty bundle - we know they are just collected and put aside because of the dates on the letters) and neither will the refuse collection. :roll:

-7 here this morning - at 9am! :shock: I was late for work as I couldn't defrost the car, couldn't s"Ooops, word censored!"e it off and the de-icer just froze an extra layer on the existing ice!

When I finally got going the drive was amazing - clear blue skies and everything white and glittery! Stunning! 8)

Snow started falling at 8am (while I was on the way to work). We now have 2-3 inches and Edinburgh has ground to a halt :shock: . Buses crashing into cars and getting stuck so all buses have been recalled. Airport and Forth Road Bridge closed and roads not getting ploughed or gritted because of all the stuck cars.

School closed early so I'm home :D . YS on his way home too.

OH took the car to work this morning as there was no snow and now can't decide whether to risk driving home. He also has the shovel and grit in the boot :roll: .

I tell a lie - car's been idle for one week. :liar::roll::oops:

The window cleaner seems to be carrying on regardless. I have heard nothing from ours for months. Actually he never even turned up for his first mission. Perhaps he self destructed because he chose not to accept it. I have no idea why this window cleaner is bothering - his cloth must be stiff! We used to have him but he ended up putting more dirt on than he took off. I've never seen him rinse that dirty old cloth once. :roll:

Cor lucky you - much the same. Clare as long as he doesn't charge for the travelling, then again eye candy would be worth every penny! :lol:

Can't recall where you are, but he lives in Buckingham, comes into Banbury and also has a round in Manchester, where he hails from.

We've had that fine, ice crystal snow all day and everything is white and still foggy. MD has just come in and told all those who drive in (not me :roll: ) to go home as it looks like it'll snow heavily. Lucky man has a Landy and he needs it to get back along the exposed road to his village.

Blimey ANH, you have a lot of snow there!

It took me 15 minutes to get into the car and get the windows clear this morning at 7am. I was tugging away at the door trying to get in, had to spray lots of de-icer all around the door three times to get it to open. I drove to work without locking myself in just in case I couldn't get out, and with my bags in the passenger footwell, as I decided it was too cold for a carjacking and the thought of someone trying to get the frozen passenger door open was just funny! It is so cold here, when I came home at 3.15pm there were roads, roofs and cars still white with frost even though we've had brilliant sunshine all day.
