whoopsie
Wow that's amazing ANH. I'm fed up with this - pranged the blasted car today when I skidded on the ice and hit a lamp post.

Old Speckled Hen
Blimey ANH and there's me moaning about the eight inches or so that we've had. Another inch overnight but a thaw is promised by Thursday

Patricia W
I do feel for you all north of the border. Down in the soft and balmy south we just have bitter cold -4 this morning, plus lots of fog. But no snow. Stay safe and warm.
bluekarin
I had no idea what a hoar frost was so Googled it, and found his most interesting site http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/reports/wxfacts/Hoar-Frost.htm It looked as if it snowed here last night/early this morning as all the cars had a light white sprinkling on. But the sprinkles were long and thin and not normal snow shaped so must be a frost of some sort, possibly even a hoar frost. Anyway, really cold here, no idea what the temp is, but it doesn't feel like the heater is on in the living room Wasn't too icy underfoot taking YD to school today *phew* Hubby had to walk her yesterday as I was too chicken
Omletina Kyckling
A big yellow vehicle just came down our road and was throwing some browny coloured stuff out of the back, not sure what it was......it also had a big metal thing across the front of it, which could possibly have been used to shift the 3 foot snow drifts on the hill above Omletina Heights, but he didn't bother......so still have to put on my climbing gear to get up the hill! The Dogmother
-7.7 here this morning at 6am and a thick hoar frost. The ice crystals must have stopped falling in the night. It's lovely and sunny today but still well below freezing. Clouds starting to gather, so we may get more snow....
abwsco
We've still got some hoar frost but it's not as bitter as it was yesterday and most main roads are clear. Left heating on all night for some of downstairs and my kitchen was still only registering a temp of 14 on the energy monitor
Seagazer
Still have ice and snow on pavements and roads although main roads clear. I actually drove today otherwise YS wouldn't have the sausage casserole that he wants for his birthday dinner tomorrow. We did have sunshine this morning so hopefully will thaw a bit more. Blackrocksrock
The edinburgh and glasgow area have had it bad last night again but why do people not just stay at home and not travel as advised by the police and stay where they are!. If its so bad then dont travel - puts everyone at risk!

chickencam
This is the view from my study window taken about 15 minutes ago, it is hoar frost on top of hoar frost. It looks beautiful but it is still only -4 and was -8.7 when I got up at 7am. I really feel for the hens today I hope that all those in badly hit areas are staying in warm and safe. chickencam
More of those tiny ice crystals are coming down now.
The Dogmother
Spotted otter tail and footprints on dogwalk, really exciting. That's fantastic news. Still only -3.4deg here and the frost is coming off the trees as the breeze hits it, but everything is still all white. I reheated the snugglesafes under the chooks' drinkers at lunchtime. ali-s
Snowed every day since I last posted (Friday). Only tiny amounts but still snow Still walking to work and back again, I have had lifts part of the way from kind folks who I know which helps even if it only takes 5 minutes off the journey. Of course it gets light a little later each day and a darker earlier so the journey is not pleasant. Our lane is like the Cresta Run at the moment, sheet ice under a thin layer of snow. OH and DS are managing to drive on it but only just. I can't face driving on it at all so I will not take my car out until it is clear. Other roads are clear of snow and ice except first thing in the morning before the gritter has been along.
Snowy
I've just taken the dogs for a late afternoon walk, still heavily frosted, but some has cleared today as it's been brilliant sunshine again. Despite that, the temperature didn't make it above -4! Had to take my camera as it's so pretty: Frozen Garden: Not very good close up of the leaves on my Bottle Brush bush: Across the fields: Dozy dog playing roly poly down the hill The boys played on the skate park - the slopes are sheet ice and made perfect slides! grracee
We've not had anymore snow, it started to thaw out the other day and then the slush froze so it's terrible on the pavements. Apparently -13 degrees last night. Very cold!!!
docsquid
I've been taking quite a lot of photos around the place over the last few days. All in a Facebook album, but you can all view it, don't have to be on FB to see it. Clicky
Lesley
We have hoar frost on top of hoar frost - very beautiful but soooo cold. My dear grandson was helping OH feed and water the animals earlier and decided to lick a metal gate - his tongue stuck to it
