Snow

....and we're nervously checking all the outside taps...... :?

The last two years we've had one in an outbuilding which has burst apart - our main stop tap for the house is past the outside taps so we have to work on them live....and they're large bore pipes! we have to don waterproofs and go armed with dustbin lids!! Our water meter and stop tap are a quarter of a mile away, along the main road, in the next village.

Big thaw here :D . Tiny corner of green in the back garden and tips of my baby plants peeking through in the front garden :D . The mountains of snow are shrinking too  .

I know there are problems with melt water but luckily (for us) we're at a pretty high part of town so all the water is running downhill (poor people down the hill :( ).

Well I didn't take the photo and I can't paste a link because it doesn't seem to be online but there is a picture of the gritter in a ditch at the bottom of our road in the local weekly paper published today, taken by my neighbour last week 8)

Glad to hear those of you who've had it very bad seem to be getting back to normal. My Mum is sending me some special socks for the next outburst

Yippee, it is all gone :D

The lane was solid ice with a thin layer of water on top this morning so I slipped and skidded my way on foot to the road. Just got home and it has all disappeared.

Temperature of plus 9c here.

I am so happy to see muddy brown fields and green grass and puddles of water :D

We have some grass showing in the garden and the (chicken) girls were let out of the run for the first time in what seems ages. I think it was about +4 today and forecast for about the same over the next few days.I just wish the ice would clear of the roads. On the positive side the girls have finished school so not as much travelling through the icey lanes to be done.

We are due more here on Thursday too, just spoke to a colleague who tells me that there are bad weather patterns coming towards us from the US (a friend in Minnesota has thigh-deep snow!) and on the other side from the middle east (Syria and Lebanon have just had snow storms, Egypt has had freak weather and storms). Looks like we will need to batten down the hatches folks!

I have relatives just south of Minneapolis and haven't heard from them yet :? - I did hear from my cousin right at the top of Minnesota near Grand Portage and they have less snow than usual and really need snow! - there are all the ski resorts along North Shore Lake Superior without snow! Strange weather isn't it!
