Christian
£13 a bale Claret. I am stunned at the delivery cost, thought it would be higher.
The Dogmother
£13 a bale Claret. Yes, I saw that, I was just incredulous at the price - I can get it for £9.95 a bale
Chucky Mama
£17.75 with postage - 20kg is not cheap to post. I've never used the stuff so don't know how quickly people get through it and whether it is good value or not.
The Dogmother
I get through a bale in roughly 3 months, that's using it in the cube, run and the bunny hutch.
Lewis
I pay about £9 a bale here, at the Hungry Horse in Sutton Coldfield, but its only round the corner from us. Only had Hemcore in last time so had to get that but found it was really fibre'y and got wrapped around out lot's toes. Never happened with Aubiose I saw Aubiose was £9.95 at Cotswold Chickens - had lots of bales in too £13 is quite expensive but the postage isn't too bad - 'spose some people will pay it! Egluntyne
My supplier had no Aubiose last week. I had to get Rapport instead. I quite like it.
lillybettybabs
I had a chicken that liked the stuff a little too much and sadly had to be pts due to a blockage . I only used it once in the run, So Bedmax big flakes for me now !

The Dogmother
Poor thing I tried rapport but found it a bit fluffier than Aubiose and inclined to blow around.
jlo
My supplier still has Aubiose. Just been and picked up a couple of bales for £8.90 each .
casiraghiegg
I have found 2 places into and close to Crawley, both under £9 a bale. The one in Henfield delivers locally for free. 20kg is a bit too much to get posted regularly. Plus my postie would hurt his back and it wouldn't fit his bike basket! The Dogmother
Some chickens just get obsessive, one woman had one which was mad about pecking the grit out of the pot. She had to take the grit out of the run as the mad hen was eating nowt else!
Jools
My usual supplier (Todds in Kendal) has it in stock. When I bought it last summer it was under £10, now it's just over. I much prefer it as bedding in the houses than anything else I've tried, but I do switch to Easibed for larger areas purely from a cost point of view. darkwoodali
They had stacks of this at Equestrian World near Henley earlier today, at £9.40 a bale. Would think that with Omlets purchasing power they ought to be able to offer it for a similar price...
Cinnamon
Did you get some Darkwoodali? Hope you like using it - I wouldn't use anything else (unless forced!)

Chrissy7
I took delivery of my Cube and 2 Pepperpots on Monday.....am new to chicken keeping and wondered if anyone could advise me if Hemcore is suitable for using outside in the extended run? I bought 2 bales but now think it might become soggy in the rain and perhaps woodchippings/bark would be better! Can anyone advise me please....thanks so much
Redwing
If the run is well covered (clear tarpaulins are excellent for this) then it will be fine If the run is not covered or is an exposed setting then go for woodchip (not bark)

I bought 2 bales but now think it might become soggy in the rain and perhaps woodchippings/bark would be better! Can anyone advise me please....thanks so much I have a cube with an extended run, which is covered with a clear tarp (you will need to cover it with something clear so that the chooks aren't paddling around in mud) and I use Aubiose in the run - it keeps pretty clean and I clear it out every 6 weeks or so. I would recommend attaching some plastic lawn edging to the bottom of the run with some cable ties, that way they won't kick it all out
Chrissy7
Thanks to everyone who advised me what to use in the run......think I'll use Hemcore in the run (which is covered) and woodchips in the area outside, surrounded by scaffold planks to keep it all in. Much appreciated
Chrissy7
Decided not to use scaffold planks for run edging....a bit OTT! Your idea of lawn edging with cable ties is brilliant but I think it would need to go on 4 sides of the run to keep the Hemcore in place wouldn't it? I have a 2m run, so would I attach the lawn edging to the mesh on the run, or as an edging to a surround outside the run filled with woodchips? If it was attached to the run mesh, do I drill holes in the lawn edging to attach it with the cable ties? Isn't this complicated!!! Also where do I get a clear tarpaulin for run.....can't find one on ebay! So many thanks to everyone x
