Do you have your groceries delivered?

Recommended Posts

I loathe supermarket shopping so use Ocado and can't fault them at all. Well, except for the recent change to their website :wall:

I use their delivery pass scheme. I've yet to be unable to book a delivery slot I want plus I've been able to book my Christmas shopping slot in October.

It's definately saved me money but more importantly my sanity as I don't have to waste hours doing a supermarket shop.

Same here, I refuse to use our local supermarkets unless absolutely desperate; Partly due to their ethics, and partly because I just can't stand the hordes. Our road is very difficult to park in too, so as a busy working mum, if I went to the supermarket of an evening, I'd have to double park outside my house, unload the groceries into the house, then go and park the car elsewhere in the road, or next street, then walk back to sort out the shopping.

The groceries I get from Ocado are always far better quality, last longer and I'm not tempted to cruise around the bargains and waste money. :D

I used to use Sainsburys but had to change to Tescos as they are much cheaper. And whilst I don't like it because of ethics money dictates. I've never had problems with either really, I get substitutes sometimes but I only use them once a month for my big shop (can't face taking 3 kids round the supermarket :) ) and you can always send the subs back.

We are a family of 6 and I have been online grocery shopping with Asda for the past 9 years.

It all began when I was pregnant with my 3rd child...I was so huge I couldn't walk very far and started ordering online.

These days it is a necessity as I cannot get all the groceries we need in one trolley.

I don't pay delivery charges because I use my Asda credit card for food only...pay off the bill at the end of the month.

No problems.

I did try Asda a few years ago, but had a really terrible experience. I'd booked my shopping for when I got home from work at lunch time. I had a voice mail on my mobile saying unless I called them to confirm my order by 1pm they wouldn't deliever it!!!! As I dont finish until 1.30...................... we were all very hungry. It was my first and last attempt to use them. They said I should check my messages, I said as I work in a hospital theatre it's not that easy!!!

I prefer going to the supermarket. We're lucky and have a large Waitrose locally and so I always bump into people I know there which makes it quite sociable. (I was tempted to go to Cinnamons Waitrose if Orlando Bloom shops there but even that couldn't tempt me away from my local store unless I'm in Henley for something else. My local store have lovely customer service, a few months ago I had just had all my shopping scanned when the till went wrong. Poor lady on the till didn't know what to do and no one could get it working so after a while I had to move everything to the next till and the lady on my till moved across and have it all rescanned. As I walked out of the shop the manager handed me an envelope that turned out to contain a £10 voucher and said it was to say thank-you for being nice about the problem :D

I used to alternate between Waitrose and Tesco but realised I bought too much junk when I went to Tesco  and it was much further so now I only go to Tesco about once a month and Waitrose about 3 times a week. I tried on-line shopping for Tesco a few years back but too often the bulk items I wanted were substituted with odd choices - I think it is probably quite dependent on who in the store is doing your shopping.

We use Ocado but normally every other week. If I miss a week they always send me a voucher normally for £15 off which means the shopping is competitively priced. I buy my meat from a local free range farm. We don't have problems a as rule but on the rare occassion we do they always correct it. I got a free bottle of wine this week as it's our Ocado anniversary apparently.

With fruit and vegetables we can grow in this country I prefer to make sure I do buy British... apples, cabbages, etc. If they don't have British available, I'll often buy something different.

I haven't really tried Ocado yet but it doesn't seem possible to see the country of origin for fruit and vegetables in most on-line supermarkets.

Thought I'd get an online shop after doing my own in the supermarket for months. Can see why i gave it up last time. My delivery was at 9pm 10/01. Not only did i get a split bag of cheese (Was dry, white and hard so that was a waste) I also got a pack of 6 rolls with the 10/01 date on them. So that's three hours to eat them before they turn into pumpkins! Not happy. On a plus side, I've just been refunded but it's not the point, i actually wanted the items delivered correctly in the first place.

My parents live a long way from their nearest supermarket and my mum doesn't drive, so when my dad had a heart attack 6 years ago I suggested that they tried online shopping with Tesco. They have had a largely positive experience with them over this time. My mum does however make her own bread and they grow most of their own veg, they do buy fruit in the winter though. She now uses Cravendale milk so only needs to shop once a fortnight.

I've used Ocado for years and they are great. They aren't too expensive (they have own brand stuff as well as Waitrose, and also guarantee to match Tesco prices on a lot of goods), and the delivery pass is good too. Rarely substitute and when they do it is an intelligent choice. I agree that when you go into the supermarket you end up buying stuff you weren't intending to. I use Ocado special offers to top up on things like washing up liquid that is non-perishable, and that saves money too.

For veg we grow our own mostly: I stopped using Riverford as I found the quality was getting worse and the vegetables sometimes rotted within days. If not Riverford, then the local farm shop. I also top up either at Sainsbury's or Marks and Sparks on the odd occasion we need to do so.

Funny you should say that - my neighbours have a Riverford box (goodness only knows why when we have North Aston Organics delivering in the area  ) they always seem to have veg past it's best that they are offering to my chooks.

Wow me too, i think i got offered a bottle of wine but i had to have it in an order that week and i didn't need an order, but never had a voucher and i've skipped plenty of weeks!

We got the offer of a year for £39.99 but as we only order every other week it wasn't worth it as I'd rather not feel like I have to purchase from them. I bet if I paid for the delivery upfront I wouldn't get the offers I do. Our Saturday delivery this week cost £1.99 delivery. We normally spend just over £100 on shopping with Ocado a week (well every other week). I assume this is in line with other peoples spending so I don't know why I get so many offers.
