Egluntyne, you appear to have your snow avatar back... do I remember that you had gone back to your normal one; it's never snowing in Sheffield?!

How odd. I can see my normal one.

Sorry for the diversion. Back to biscuits.

You have all got me thinking now,& I am thinking Digestives, because they are the only biccie that is great with cheese too

Now that's something I've never quite got on with; biscuits with cheese. For me, the only things to accompany the cheese board should be proper bread and a decent bottle of red. I'll accept Port within the definition of red wine, and live with a fruit bowl to one side, but biscuits? Not for me.

Now Major, how do you stand on walnuts/nut of your choice with your cheese? Or christmas cake?

I don't. I sit. Never eat standing, 'cos you'll get indigestion.

However, whilst seated, walnuts are an excellent idea, as is Christmas cake. Moreover, they're both admirable in helping polish off a bottle of Port that would, of course, otherwise be wasted (and we don't want that....). By preference, I'd finish off with the cheese board and then move onto the nuts and cake. I also find the bitterness of the walnut skins and the sweetness of the cake both clash with the wine, but work really well with Port, hence stuffing my face with nuts after cheese rather than before.

It's amazing how hard work it is being a hedonist.....
