Margalot
Claret & Claire G one brand now I love choccie digestives as well as bourbons, but ultimately bourbons wins so bourbons it has to be I never said you could have a second choice!! majorbloodnock
You have all got me thinking now,& I am thinking Digestives, because they are the only biccie that is great with cheese too Now that's something I've never quite got on with; biscuits with cheese. For me, the only things to accompany the cheese board should be proper bread and a decent bottle of red. I'll accept Port within the definition of red wine, and live with a fruit bowl to one side, but biscuits? Not for me.
Cinnamon
Really? Not even Carrs Water Biscuits? ....you can't beat those with a hunk of something mature & tasty I can safely say that we eat more cheese biscuits in a month than we do sweet biscuits in a year! majorbloodnock
Nope, not even them. No matter whether it's a nice strong cheddar, a rich gorgonzola or a satisfyingly footy camembert, I'll take the fresh bloomer with a leathery crust any day. Daphne
One brand - Bahlsen - so thats chocolate and biscuit in one handy portion, as in 'No darling, I'm not eating chocolate, I'm having a biscuit' Now Major, how do you stand on walnuts/nut of your choice with your cheese? Or christmas cake?
majorbloodnock
Now Major, how do you stand on walnuts/nut of your choice with your cheese? Or christmas cake? I don't. I sit. Never eat standing, 'cos you'll get indigestion. However, whilst seated, walnuts are an excellent idea, as is Christmas cake. Moreover, they're both admirable in helping polish off a bottle of Port that would, of course, otherwise be wasted (and we don't want that....). By preference, I'd finish off with the cheese board and then move onto the nuts and cake. I also find the bitterness of the walnut skins and the sweetness of the cake both clash with the wine, but work really well with Port, hence stuffing my face with nuts after cheese rather than before. It's amazing how hard work it is being a hedonist.....
poachedegg
Mine would be fig rolls too, however I rarely buy them as I am the only one that likes them and I would eat them all (probably in a day! )
