TheGirlsMum
That's exactly what hubby and me were saying. There were still times when I was shouting at them
JillM
We enjoyed the entertainment, couldn't believe they hadn't done their homework to read up on fencing. The couple that went for the goats watched the one clear the gate easily and then they put them in their paddock with very low electric fencing We are about to install some stock fencing for pigs, doesn't look like we are going to be shown how to do it, does it? Only how not to. Can't believe none of them went for chickens and where were their animal shelters? Last question.....why did they all plough down the hill rather than across The sisters were definitely the right ones to go first. I couldn't BELIEVE they were ploughing downhill. What idiots! The rain is going to wash all their topsoil away rather than keeping the moisture in and irrigating the crops properly!!!
Sam
CHICKENS NEXT WEEK!! I'm getting too excited by chickens now...
Alis girls
I am starting to find the nurse and her husband and the fireman and g/f very annoying. I wish they woould stop arguing and get on with it. Jimmy was far too charitable to Miss Winney moo and fireman sam - "babe this" and "babe that" got on my wick. Sorry to see the guys go - hope his eye is ok.
Bramble
Oooo, think they said they're learning to make fox proof chuck runs next week (or was that wishful thinking on my part?)
Dodge
Just a reminder that tonight's episode at 20:00 on BBC 2 is all about poultry. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00z78d5 Can't wait

LuckyChickenLover-
Firstly, thanks for starting this topic! I'd seen an article about the program but I hadn't realised that it was on. I saw this topic just in time to be able to watch the poultry episode . I agree, I think that the older couple have the best chance of winning. They seem to be the only ones with an inkling of what to do. The chicken runs that they made were horrendous! I know that they only had a couple of days, but even so, did they really think that those would keep out a hungry fox!?!? P.S. Turkey artificial insemination - rather them than me
Janty
The smallholder, where the London designer and PR girlfriend got their ducks from is Joy, the lady where my blue egg laying bantam, Australorp, Welsummers and quail came from.
keyhole kate
Caught this for the first time tonight and was riveted even DD watched it and thought it was good TV we both thought that the London designer treated and spoke to his PR girlfriend as though she was stupid and that everything was all about him we thought they deserved to go not the other couple
Alis girls
Loved the ducks but they didnt look old enough to be laying - but not a duck expert. Just one thing - not enough chickens. Also if you've got ducks dont you need summat for them to swim in? See I dont know - a paddling pool would have surficed.
Old Speckled Hen
thought that the London designer treated and spoke to his PR girlfriend as though she was stupid and that everything was all about him we thought they deserved to go not the other couple I absolutely agree. I think they went because Jimmy got the hump when they argued with him. He'e getting a bit old schoolmarmish. Naughty Jimmy!!!
Bramble
If some of those runs were fox proof, I'm not sure why I'm worrying about whether to buy an Omlet WIR, just a bit of baggy chicken wire over some poles will do, won't it Definitely think the wrong couple went last night though, shame. Glad the "older couple" stayed (I know her name is Sue, can't remember her OH's name though ) they did really well
Rhapsody
I dont know how many times I bellowed "Chicken wire is not fox-proof" at the tv last night!!! The duck in a dog carrier was hilarious- what a great 'product'
Old Speckled Hen
Oh I don't know.....A bit like an eglu with chickens, methinks Time for an interim vote for the winners ........ Sue and Ian?
chickenNutter
Yes definitely Sue and Ian for me. and I agree with you Kehole Kate, the London designer's treatment of his girlfriend really got goat, and I thought they should have gone, and I agree with OSH that the others went instead because the bloke answered Jimmy back. The designer/PR couple can do the money making entrepeneurial stuff, but they don't look like they are used to the outdoors/animal at all. I mean, not putting up their fencing because it was raining?!!
Guest
Oh I don't know.....A bit like an eglu with chickens, methinks Time for an interim vote for the winners ........ Sue and Ian? Sue and Ian definitely seem to be the running however I thought Ian digging holes with his penknife was just ridiculous! I wonder how far I'd have got if I was competing... Sam
I thought the voice over was funny when they were going all through the runs. 'Here is blabla's run, made with green coated plastic with a fully functional door and a skirt, and here is blabla's duck a in a cage!' Funny product but love the program
Lesley
I'm still finding the whole thing extremely irritating but have to see it through now - I spend the whole programme 'reminding' Jimmy how poor his capabilities were when he started.....he'd certainly not have got this far had he been in a similar programme when he first started up Why he started with how to despatch poultry in a commercial setting I don't know and the AI certainly wasn't necessary for smallholders
Jools
I thought so too Lesley - mind you it is compulsive view just to see how awful it is!

I wondered off and did biology revision-much better for my stress levels than shouting at the TV!
MedusA
I've been watching this with some frustration because I had all the paperwork to apply for this programme but OH wouldn't have been able to take the time off work, so didn't apply in the end. I'm glad I didn't now, because I never would have made the grade.....I'm not whiney enough and I know how to build a fox-proof chicken run! Sue and Ian to win for me too. They are the only couple who quietly get on with the task and work as a team instead of arguing like spoilt brats. It's very much the sort of viewing that makes you want to throw something at the TV. TheGirlsMum
I thought the shepherdess was about to remove Ian from her sheep.....she was very jumpy. I think the Geodies will learn alot....they will need too. I'm glad we don''t have to produce a business plan and that we are only producing for ourselves.
