I didn't have my ears pierced until I was 40, I went with ED who was 14 at the time and we held each others hands. She hardly ever wears earings now, and i just wear the same studs most of the time but do have a couple of lovely pairs for special occasions. YD wants her ears done too but I feel that she should wait until she is 14 too, I will hold her hand but won't be getting anything else done. I make very strong eye contact throughout these conversations. You dont actually say, but i hope your neighbour is of the male variety! Im in my 30s and Im pretty much covered with tattoos (Im a tattooist by profession) my partner is 40 this year and also has heavy coverage as do many of our friends. There is a big difference between people who jump on trend bandwagons and get their little stamps, which have little artistic merit and are just names, stars, designs picked of walls etc, and serious collectors such as myself who attend conventions and travel around to collect custom pieces from a number of artists, then its more than a fashion thing as your talking about a serious financial commitment and a lot of time. Piercings dont really interest me as its not art work, its just bits of metal stuffed in skin, but each to their own, I have stretched ears and thats all, and thats just cause I really like a lot of the stretched jewellery, there is some lovely pieces made from stunning materials, to me its not any different from having your ears pierced normally which about 90% of women do anyway. No one in my family has one, and I don't particularly like them, but I just find them much nicer than piercings. If I WERE to get a tattoo I would probably get a very small one that would be hidden under normal clothes. Am I the only one who doesn't have any piercings at all My mum can't understand why I don't want one, because she was desperate to have her ears pierced when she was little! I don't really see the point because my hair covers my ears. Also, I have a l o w pain threshold Also to add, there was an article about this bodice piercing thing (they called it 'Corset Piercing') in the Metro today. I used to have a couple of 'hidden' piercings but these are long gone-my o/h has a real needle phobia and found them quite hard to handle...so to speak.. sadietoo Posted May 8, 2011 Share Posted May 8, 2011 In a previous incarnation my OH worked organising transport for bands on tour...I'm glad to say he managed to be rock and roll without a single piercing or tattoo...but told me about one manager of a very well known band who had started out as a guitar tech, and had loads of tattoos completely covering his arms. Great at the time, but when it came to negotiating deals with top record labels, he had to wear long sleeves, even in the hottest weather, or no one would take him seriously... My DS friend has dreadlocks, no piercings and no tattoos....I think he looks fabulous. and I would always encourage and extreme hair style to show individuality rather than anything permanent My daughter has her ears pierced (just conventionally) and a tragus piercing, which, after her year in France she now wants to take out but no one can shift it at the moment. Also her experience of French girls is that they don't wear makeup and dress very modestly....it has certainly changed her opinion on what she would and wouldn't wear, because as she said herself, they were just so authentic....her aim now is to be naturally gorgeous, and I am so pleased Cinnamon your daughter is lovely....but just perfect as she is... Don't even like to look at my DD's belly button piercing which she loves to show me both girls 20 & 24 have tattoos, both have them just black and on their sides thank goodness. Son 21 hasn't got anything though he fancied an eyebrow piercing once but was too young at the time and outgrew the idea I always tell them think about,nothing too noticeable until you are established in a job. I wonder how long before some brides think it's a nice idea to move on from a lace-up, corset backed wedding dress to just the lace-up corset back??? All leaves me cold I'm afraid. The back ones usually have small diamond studs in & the normal ones my dangly earrings. I also have my nose pierced with a tiny diamond stud in. That's it. Once had belly button done - but body rejected it - it grew out?! Do people want to look like demons, aliens & vampires or what? Chickvic Posted May 12, 2011 Share Posted May 12, 2011 I have my one ear pierced 3 times the other ear 4 times. Tragus piercing and about 20 tattoos mostly on my upper arms/back. I do have an ankle tattoo and one on my foot, the only one that is usually on show is the one on my inner wrist. A friend of mine has had 3 studs put in a line down her chest - that does not appeal!
