The Dogmother
The ones that i Ordered the 2nd time around did. I have just received the first order (which i cancelled ) and those aren't in bags. Amazon were very helpful and are collecting them from me and refunding to my account. Mind you, they are using Yodel as their courier, so I'll believe it when it happens!

Christian
Mine is sitting on the 20kg bag of unopened salt in the shed.
Olly
but it goes without saying, if we didn't all have pristine snow shovels (yes, I have one too in my boot!) it would have snowed like blazes last winter. I absolutely swear by carrying road salt - a handful is all you need to get out of a sticky situation, it has saved the day for me more than once. chickencam
A friend of my husband gave him a big bag of road salt a couple of years ago for Christmas and of course it hasn't snowed since.
abwsco
How could I forget the two bags of "Ice melty" stuff I have in the boiler house. I have to climb over them regularly Also have enough car de-icer to open a shop.......................

Do you mean you carry it in the car? Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking. I hate snow!! I have the snow shovel in my boot. Thanks Chrissie
Olly
You can usually buy sacks of grit/salt in winter from garages/Homebase type places and it's handy to keep some for clearing drives/steps or at least reducing the slipperiness of them. I just keep a large coffee jar full of it in the boot for emergencies, I can't remember where I got the original bag from. Two winters ago I gave my niece a lift home, and pulled on to her dead-end road which was ungritted and not used much - I started turning the car, and got completely stuck across the road, there was no grip to complete the turn. Her partner came out and tried pushing but he couldn't get any purchase with his feet. I thought I'd be there till it thawed! A handful of salt just under the front wheels was enough to get the car moving again. I wouldn't go out without it in winter now.
abwsco
You can also use dishwasher salt or cat litter
Olly
Yes ... however not the dishwasher salt that comes in little tablets! After the snow thawed last year I couldn't work out why there were little white blocks all over the pavement on my way to work ... someone had sprinkled those around, but it hadn't worked! Ain't Nobody Here
Yay, I've used my Gelert folding shovel for the first time since buying it in 2011 . The serrated edges are fab for clearing ice . I only did my front door step but am impressed so far!
abwsco
Glad it works well Vicki Still haven't used mine but have needed to use some of my deicer store this week - lol
Old Speckled Hen
No need for a snow shovel here. We've got two to three weeks of stores in the shed. Don't even need power. We have the solid fuel Rayburn, an open fire and bottled gas. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow......we'll just shut the door
The Dogmother
I've brought more wood up the garden and made sure that we have milk in the freezer.

bluekarin
In my constant search for The Winter boots that won't slip on the snow and ice I think *touchwood* I may have found them, but thought I'd check with the Omlet oracle. They are Merrell Oslo. They are quite pricey so I just wanted to hear from anyone who has had them as to if their soles do infant stick and not slip. Thank you
