StephenW
Hi guys, I plan to worm hens before they come into lay and was going to get flubenvet I have 8 chooks. Is one packet the right way to go? Steve
LolaLayla
An easy way is to get Marriages layers pellets with flubenvet in them. You don't have to worry about them getting the correct dose. Just give them the pellets instead of their usual food for a week
StephenW
That a good idea but unfortunatly there is no stockists near by. Steve
Tweety
You can order it online from SPRCentre. It is by far the easiest way of worming your hens.
Chucky Mama
1 60g tub will enable you to worm them a number of times
LolaLayla
I just phone Marriages and order it. Chucky Mama-reckon I am too lazy to measure it out (also a bit worried that I make a mistake)
abwsco
Buying from SPR has always been cheaper for me than getting it from Marriages direct

superkitty
Ditto! Although my girls might take a while to work their way through 20kg
LolaLayla
I think I got a 10kg bag from Marriages
LolaLayla
Buying from SPR has always been cheaper for me than getting it from Marriages direct I will try them next time. Thanks
StephenW
I have ordered flubenvet on its own, the layerspellets were going to cost too much to get posted. Thank you for all your help Steve
superkitty
I think I got a 10kg bag from Marriages Ooh, thank you. That's a bit more feasible. Do you just call them up direct and they'll deliver them to you by courier?
Mercedes55
I bought a bag of the medicated pellets once but my girls didn't seem to like them. So I am back to buying the Flubenvet and mixing it up myself. Have to say it's very easy and takes hardly any time once you get the hang of doing it. I tend to just make up 4kg of food at a time and then mix up more as needed.
Mum
I have ordered flubenvet on its own, the layerspellets were going to cost too much to get posted. Thank you for all your help Steve When mixing mine with pellets, my main worry is, being such tiny particules it won't "stick" to the pellets. My solution to this is to add some cod liver oil to the pellets first (shake, shake, shake the tub to get them all coated) then add the flubenvet and shake, shake, shake some more. Whole lot of shaking goes on here
The Dogmother
I used to use the 'oil and mix' method but now I just buy the ready mixed pellets; the 10kg bag lasts for 2 worming sessions before it goes out of date.
StephenW
Will keep the shaking in mind, I looked at the layers pellets with flubenvet and it was a very good idea but was going to cost too much to get posted. Just hope I can get them wormed successfully with the powder Steve
LolaLayla
I think I got a 10kg bag from Marriages Ooh, thank you. That's a bit more feasible. Do you just call them up direct and they'll deliver them to you by courier? Yes. I just got the phone number online. They ask you a few questions about how many hens you have etc take your payment details and a few days later it arrives. Abswco mentioned that SPR is cheaper so I will investigate them when I next need to worm the girls. My girls love the pellets, there seems to be no problem with them eating them. However I do not think they are choosy -found them eating a mouse one day
pips_pekins
I just use the shake method but no oil. I find it very messy as it generates a lot of dust and then I worry that too much Flubenvet has escaped. Last time I seemed to get covered in dust and then read I shouldn't inhale Flubenvet or allow it to touch my skin Think I'll try the ready mixed stuff next time. Plum
Why not stir it with hands then dust doesn't fly. Just mixed mine without oil, I did worry that with oil it would stick to some then not spread evenly I would use the pellets if I could get them locally. pips_pekins
Why not stir it with hands then dust doesn't fly. That seems to take so much longer and I wasn't convinced I was mixing it through properly If I can't get Marriages locally, I'll get OH to do it next time. He has more patience than me. That was my thought about the oil too Plum.
poachedegg
We use the marriages pellets with flubenvet and find it much more convenient - have found delivery from SPR very efficient.
The Dogmother
I use the pellets due to lack of patience and time pips_pekins, there aren't any stockists around here (yet) so I order directly from Marriages and they come in 1 or 2 days. Redwing
Heygates now do layers pellets with Flubenvet in, their feed is good and is cheaper than marriages, Heygates is very popular throughout the midlands, I'm not sure how far their stockists extend though
Plum
Thanks Tasha I'll investigate.
