Egluntyne
I bought one of these Titan Peeler on the recommendation of a friend. It is amazing. I peeled a butternut squash with it a few minutes ago, and it look me about a minute. Normally I would have quite a struggle. It is very sharp indeed. LisaP
I don't know which high street shops have them, I got mine for £3.99 at the "cheapy shop" in our town centre but I know they have them on Amazon for a similar price. Egluntyne
I got mine from Amazon. The twin pack with the Julienne cutter.
Duncan08
I think I might have a look too. Always very sceptical about these things, but if it does a butternut squash with ease will have to check it. Thanks for the tip

Chook n Boo Mum
What a good idea, DD is starting to get interested in the kitchen, but knives scare me with her at the helm.....this could be the answer for slicing, thank you
The Dogmother
Anything that makes a butternut squash easier to peel is on my shopping list!
surfer_chicken
A word of warning: We have one of these, my dad strode in one day after being sold it at the supermarket and took over peeling the carrots. Mid-speech about how amazing it was he cut himself very nastily. I have since cut myself on it as well and I'm a little scared of it tbh They are very good if you're careful though! superkitty
Mine has just arrived...and it doesn't have any instructions. I am a bit of a dunce with kitchen equipment but will have a (careful) experiment with the two metal peeler thingies to see what they do - but can someone shed some light on what the blue plastic thing with the point on one end is for?! Egluntyne
If you look at the link I posted, it shows you. It is to turn it into a mini mandolin slicer.
superkitty
sorry! Will go have a look now. Am thinking that's not a musical instrument....although could do with some entertainment in the kitchen. I have a feeling my kitchen education is about to be expanded
riane
Oh yes got to have one of those. Love a kitchen gadget! I am assuming everybody still has all their fingers and can type peeling progress.
superkitty
Yes...but I am being very careful with them. They are pretty impressive so far!
Blackrocksrock
My bodum one does the same job and it peels it beautifully - no cuts on me either.
riane
Oh dear used it first time to peel apples and the blade split! Not too impressed I have to say! However it is sharp and I can see it would work well.
chickencam
I have a Victorinox peeler that is angled to fit into the palm of your hand and it makes peeling potaoes so fast, I do take the odd fingernail off with it from time to time, but when peeling spuds for 5 it makes very short work of the job. It has a metal blade but is still really sharp after 8 years or so of use. A friend bought us a ceramic peeler about 5 years ago and although it was ultra sharp the blade got broken within a couple of weeks.

Seagazer
I bought one of these at a camping and caravanning show a few weeks back. There was a chap demonstrating and I had a go at peeling a squash and it was so much easier than my normal peeler. That said I haven't used it yet. sadietoo
I have one of these.... We bought it at a homes and gardens exhibition about 15 years ago...it's still as sharp as it was when new and is absolutely brilliant...even for Butternut Squash.... http://www.cutco.co.uk/html/product.php?code=1501 It's my favourite piece of kitchen equipment because it does exactly what you need it to with no fuss....
