Chicken Licken
Beekeeping for me too. I am about to begin the 'Improvers' Course.
Bantambabe
Having "specialised" in special needs teaching a few years ago and done my Masters in SEN/Inclusion with the OU, I've become a perpetual student (according to my friends). They just don't get that everytime you specialise it just widens the field again. I'm currently studing the Mandatory Qualification for teaching blind and visually impaired children at Birmingham Uni - it's a 2 yr distance ed course and I'll finish it this summer - phew! Learning braille has been but really satisfying when you then work with a 5 year old and he can read for the first time The government have funded this course as there's a ageing population of teacher of blind and deaf children and within the next 5-10 years there will be a national crisis. I couldn't have afforded it otherwise. This IS the last course... had enough of masters level essay writing. ...although I would like to learn Welsh.... Chicken Licken
oooh - that is my OU masters too. I'm a SEN teacher in a mainstream school working predominantly on literacy with years 7 and 8, and moving back to the pre-neets - my 'naughty boys' as I think of them - who knows what the next work related course will be - but there is bound to be one!! Plum
Wow that is really worthwhile. I should be studying . Got 5 NHS online finance modules to complete by middle of march with assessments attached. Is it cheating if I go straight to the assessment page and photograph the questions then go back through the course. I'm too old for this can give you all quite a few years. DoctorDoLittle
After being a research chemist for 20 yrs, I got made redundent nearly 3 yrs ago. I decided to retrain and become a Paramedic which has been quite a hard slog. I just registered a few weeks ago and work around Central and North London. The learning neverstops, on next Monday I have a 12hr driving course to pass so that I can work in the fast response car to get to whatever much quicker.....and I"ll be a half century next birthday. Snowy
You are all very inspirational! I haven't done any serious studying for a few years as the little ones came along, but always said I wanted to go on and do a Masters after my Community Nursing degree. I'm getting to that stage where I really want to reawaken the brain cells and have been browsing courses. I've stopped short of applying for any as I feel 'too old' I really must rethink that! Mum
I have done all the studying I can afford! Degree and PGCE, although I would love to do a Masters-currently not a viable option though hopefully one day! Have you checked out "Teach First"? They are a charity (and this Government was promoting them a little while back if my memory isn't playing tricks) and they fund your Masters. You have to be a graduate, you get placed in a very demanding school, obtain your PGCE (which may or may not be an issue that you already have it; I don't know, so do check) then you end up with your Masters by completing the final leg at a London Uni. As I say, check it out because I'm sure I may have some of my facts wrong. Neat way to get your Masters though
ilovechickens
thanks Mum-will have a look at that-when I did my PGCE I was also awarded 60 credits at masters level-so actually I only need another 120 credits-have looked at the OU but too expensive (did my degree with them) . But hey-its lottery night tonight so you never know!

The Dogmother
I'm looking out for a skeletal model of a dog at the moment ( slightly weird). Ask Clive Madeiros at West Bar Vets - he might know. I'd love to work part time and be able to study again, in fact I'd like a whole change of career - either a paramedic or a midwife... so far I'm one of the few members of my family not in the medical profession. Perhaps when the mortgage is paid off

The Dogmother
Will you be covering T Touch, Karen? I took Ruby to a practitioner so that I could learn a bit and it's certainly helped her to calm down a bit - she's always lived life on the edge
