The Weather Thread # 7

Very hot yesterday but there was a lovely breeze by the evening, we went out to our favourite local French bistro which has a gorgeous courtyard garden, with our two eldest children whilst waiting for YD to get back from Euro Disney, she was delayed by two hours, so we had a lovely cool relaxing evening. :D

Hot again today but had a strong breeze all day, feels cooler this evening.

OH arrived at work and got drenched in a really big thunderstorm. We are supposed to get them this afternoon and during the night. Maybe some tomorrow too - hope it storms itself out before night time. But looking forward to the cooler session it's should bring. Very hot indeed so far.

Started the day off with a thunderstorm and rain which was lovely but now it's all change. Very humid and hot, currently 30 degrees. Might reach 35 apparently. Trying to clear under a tree but I think i 'll give up until cooler weather comes along. Glad I don't have to be in town.

Hot and dry here in Sunny-ish Sussex...

Personally I've been loving this spell of toasty weather (in spite of the lack of any sort of air conditioning in our office....)and am dreading it ending...

The last three summers have been so awful here that we were on the brink of moving to warmer climes....If it turns all grey and moody again after all this glorious sunshine I shall be very very cross indeed  so who ever is in charge be warned

This is one of the main reasons we have left Sussex! However, best laid plans and all that, we leave and the UK gets a heatwave and today/yesterday you are hotter than where we are

However, and this is not funny at all, for the past hour we have been watching helicopters and planes drop water on a forest fire just one mile away. I can tell you its a very odd feeling to see a forest fire raging from your kitchen window. We are packed up for emergency flight - amazing how clear sighted the brain is at times like this - but at the moment the danger seems to have passed and I feel we will be OK. I am online, messing about, because I don't know what else to do to calm the nerves

Panic is over :D Apparently the fire started this morning, but we were out. As we came back, we could see the plume of smoke from 25 miles away and as we got nearer OH said that could be near us, and I said it could be any one of the numerous hills full of trees anywhere, but as we turned up our particular hill we realised it was in the village next to our hamlet  Turns out to have been caused by somebody strimming the tinder dry grass  Strimming is a very typical pastime around here, and its partly to provide fodder and bedding for animals, and partly to keep the fire risk down. We've had at least 4 hours to our knowledge of helicopters dropping water and 2 big lumbering yellow planes, sounding like something from the War, circling overhead (we are high up on a ridge) carrying larger loads. Its all been quite scary and I feel exhausted. We are leaving the packed bags on the floor, just in case but I'm sure its all going to be fine now.

On a lighter note, and nothing to do with the weather, guess what OH bought this morning? A water melon weighing over 30lbs :shock::shock:

At last! After days of boiling hot, sticky humid weather the storm has broken. Not quite enough rain to stop it being a humid but some lovely rolling thunder and bright lightening :D The dog is not too sure - I think this is her first thunder storm :anxious:

Actually thought I had melted today ! I had to spend the day in a hot stuffy room learning all about 3D printers ! then at 1:45 they delivered fish and chips for lunch they were yummy but it was far too hot for them .

I am loving the weather but only when I can sit in the shade and I am looking forward to the thunder storms we are meant to be getting, I just hope they doesn't cause too much havoc as we are on a weather warning for flash flooding
