Luvachicken
Well, having asked hubby if I could get 3 more girls he let me have 4. They are so sweet and they cheep. I will post pictures tomorrow. I got a welsummer, a blue wyandotte, a millefleur pekin and a buff plymouth rock. It has been a long day going to get them and they are just tucking into a last bit of supper, before a well earned rest. Luvachicken
Here they are This is Penny This is Queenie - named after the jubilee of course This is Lucie This is Heidi They really are the sweetest little things. I love them. Even my daughter - who doesn't like chickens stroked 2 of them. At the moment they are in a cat box in a section of our new run with the 2 big girls wandering past every now and then. I need to feed them growers pellets for the next 10 weeks as they are only 6 weeks old.

Luvachicken
I am hopelessly in love with them all, especially Lucie! What gorgeous babies, bet you're a very proud mum I am really over the moon as my dear old Grandma would say. I just gave them all a bedtime cuddle too. so cute, congratulations I can hear their little cheeps from here They cheep so sweetly and Heidi has the loudest cheep of all. They have been in their tiny pen all day but I don't want to leave them outside in it tonight, so I'm going to sneak them in when no one is looking I think they have enjoyed their first day. We gave them a little log to climb on and they did explore that quite excitedly. I can't wait to see them again tomorrow

Luvachicken
Laura, Keep working on him. I set off with the intention of getting 3 new girls. Then I chose 3 chicks and as they were being caught I spotted the lovely blue wyandotte and said "Can I have that one too?" He just said "yes"

Luvachicken
Yeah sorry, I agree - they are absolutely beautiful chick wiggle and chubby chook Every day I look at them and think awwwww. They are the best. Mind you, today, when it was time for bedtime cuddles Queenie decided to try and make a jump for it from the run and show us her flying skills. She is the most adventurous one and I think she may be the oldest. Sadly, she doesn't seem to like the cuddles so much as the others. She quivers while she is in your hand whereas the others just sit there and fall asleep. And when she is in your hand she is constantly on the lookout. Still, she has to get used to it somehow. They are still all lovely though
Duncan08
Most of my big girls don't like cuddles, except the Vorwerk, Marigold. I did the louse powder and health check today, ooh they don't like it My new babies just go to sleep, our black pekin is the least "cuddly" but she does settle down eventually. Loving that they are all inside at the moment in the old indoor rabbit hutch, (sick bay), can sit and watch them for hours........
dancing cloud
dancing cloud - only 2 chooks and all that housing ??? That's practically criminal I know and I'm slowly warming my dad up to more . The is currently in storage and that still leaves two cubes looking empty. With dad's four dogs and my four cats, we already have a houseful, but I've sowed the seed that hens cannot live on their own and he was quite happy for me to get a couple more if I went down to one. Think he would prefer hens that come fully-feathered rather than ex-batts, so I've located a couple of places near here that have been recommended by Omleteers and started showing him different breeds. I've sneakily showed him the photos of these little cutie-pies as well - who could resist? Slowly, slowly ...
