Paola
I was ironing OH shirt last night (he never irons but has done rarely in the past!) and asked him if he has ever used a washing machine. I asked this because all the time we have been together (about 7 years) he never has. His reply was no He went on to say that I should count myself lucky because he will push a vacuum cleaner around occasionally and wipe the sides down in the kitchen

Egluntyne
Wipes sides down in the kitchen!! Am impressed! Him Indoors has never ironed as far as I can recall. He occasionally says I've emptied the dishwasher "for you" or I've put the bin out "for you"...I've never quite got my head around the "for you" bit. Guest
Chookiehubbie discovered this week that, since we moved and got a new cooker and microwave, that he is completely unable to heat up, grill or cook, as he has no idea how to turn either of them on.... He too occasionaly does my hoovering....
BeckyBoo
Perhaps it's a latent gene in men, mine, if he EVER does any housework, has always done it "for me". And if I don't say thanks, I'll get told again - "I've emptied the dishwasher for you" until I say, "Oh, thanks". So it must mean when I do the housework I'm just doing it for myself then, cos he never says thanks when he puts a shirt on in the morning! OH has occasionally cooked, but I don't let him often as I think he thinks he's Gordon Ramsey and has a sous chef to clean up every pot and pan and all the mess he's left! ali-s
My OH does nearly all the housework He cleans the kitchen floor down on his hands and knees using a cloth Yesterday I cleaned the floor for the first time in a about 6 months...... I went out and bought a mop and bucket He will stand and do all the ironing as long as there is football on TV (there is always a footy match to watch on sky ) Cooking, dusting, hoovering, you name it he will do it Sometimes I think he has OCD as he is always cleaning He is one in a million and I love him to bits
Laura & CTB
I allocated jobs in our house - son does the kitchen and CTB does the bathroom - I get left with all the really HARD rooms
bronze
I get the 'for you' bit as well. Especially in relation to the children so its not even really a favour for me seeing as they're as much his responsibilty as mine. He does do all the ironing thats done in the house though. His shirts! I don't iron anything. If I'm desperate I ask him to do it. As for the washing machine. When I went away he phoned me about the controls on the washing machine. He couldnt work out what I was talking about until I establised he was trying to wash his clothes in the tumble dryer. Hes not stupid, he just pretends to be. Cate in NZ
The one and only time mine used the washing machine he loaded in a work issue pure wool jumper on a hot wash. When it came out it would have just about fitted a Barbie doll . Apparently he took it back to stores and requested a replacement saying that I'd washed it He does do his own ironing though. When we first married he made a great song and dance about how I didn't put the creases in the right place on his work shirts, and offerred to teach me . I declined the lesson and any further opportunities to do his ironing . He doesn't see dust, or muck on the floor, or unmade beds etc etc, and he can't cook to save his life. Can just about heat up a pizza if pressed. Great at opening wine though And the fact that he simply doesn't appear to see mess means that if I can bear to ignore it he won't be complaining if it's not done . Still, I like the sound of Ali's OH, if you ever get tired of him you know where to send him Ali
Lesley
I've got one that does a lot of household chores as well - and most of the cooking - I do iron his work shirts though. That is about all I do iron, the rest gets folded. I'd rather do all the DIY and drain rodding
theherd123
I know i am a very lucky girl indeed as my OH was very domesticated when we met. He does ALL the household chores from washing, ironing and hoovering to cleaning the bathroom, kitchen and pooh picking after the bears! I clean the chooks and cook - i never used to do this as i wasnt very good at it before i met the OH. When we first got together i often burnt cheese on toast and 'nuked' spaghetti in the microwave i think i have improved since then!

Mrs Bertie My OH is the same. Makes a real point of telling me and of course wants to be thanked He never cooks also. Could count on one hand how many times a year he cooks And then that is after some nagging! Can I join the queue for Alisons OH? Having said that Emma's sounds great also
Couperman
You ladies are better at multi-tasking as you keep telling us! Couperwife was busy fixing the roof earlier and she pointed out that the washing needed hanging out. I helped by footing the ladder to make sure she was safe coming down to hang out the washing and ensured her safety as she carried the tiles back up, I even mixed the mortar in a purple tubtrug! She was quite upset that she couldn't finish the roof before the heavens opened and rightly apologised for the fact that she had in fact been wrong in hanging the washing out on such a poor drying day and hadn't ironed my socks properly. I don't know what the world is coming too!! I nearly spilt my beer! I may have to dock her housekeeping! Kev.
