Introducing Lola

Recommended Posts

Only just stumbled across this section of the Forum  so thought I'd introduce Lola properly as I sneaked her in on another thread :)

Lola has been with us for a week tomorrow and she is the most scrumptious little girl :D Eddie has turned into a right old mother hen

OMG she is gorgeous. I too have a Border terrier. She has never been a minutes trouble and was house trained by the 2nd week at home. She is such a loving dog. The only problem is she loves humans but hates other dogs. She likes to watch tv with me on an evening and we generally have a cuddle. She is mesmerised by the chickens though. She sits outside the run for ages watching their every move. I wouldnt dare let her near them off the lead so if they are having a bit of an FR then she goes on the lead up to the far paddock well out of harms way - but then she is a Terrier so cant really expect anything else I suppose

:D Lola hasn't had an accident in the house at all  She trots off to the back door when she needs to go out...Eddie was good but not that good! Must be a girl 'thang' Eddie doesn't hate other dogs but he can be grumpy towards some dogs sometimes  He's still a teenager so we're giving him the benefit of the doubt and working hard using treats to focus him when we pass another dog, just in case :)

I know what you mean. Ziggy is 3 now and although she is a lot better than she was in some things - the other dog thing is not so good. I think part of the problem is that we live in quite a quiet village and because we have so much land she happily roams around in her own kingdom. Also - when she was a small puppy she used to go to the park with us every day and loved playing with other dogs but then one day when she was on the lead a huge dog came from nowhere and bit he and chased her and ever since then it's as if she thinks "I'm going to get in first"

That's exactly what happened to Eddie :? We were walking out of an alley from a small local park, onto the main road and a huge Malamute came around the corner and bit Eddie so he too now 'gets in first' and warns them off...especially if the dog is large. The treat training is helping a bit.

I started taking Ziggy to training and she was doing really well but then we had to stop attending cos we were in the throes of moving. She is getting slightly better. If it was up to me I would let her have some puppies but the OH wont. He's not really much of a doggy person (although when he thinks he's alone with Ziggy I hear him talking to her and saying "who's my gorgeous girl then") We've just been for a walk up the paddock and on to the field (we are so lucky that where we moved to has three acres plus two lakes). OH has been cutting some paths through the long grass right at the top and Ziggy has had a whale of a time chasing around. She's just come back in and is now having a rest.
