The Olympics - the sport

Recommended Posts

Sweeeeet!! Nice people.

Not able to watch today, think we've done very well in dressage. Watched 10k marathon open water swim, brave and impressive girls. Don't know about the boxing yet but I think the boxer who I think is called Nicola is one of the most smiley people I've seen apart from maybe Lisa Dobrisky who makes me smile every time.

Steve Redgrave said that although some athletes will feel sad now, when they're old they'll be able to look back and say "i was in the Olympics". That's a lovely thought and I hope they all hear that.

I've also watched more TV this past fortnight than the rest of the year

Just watched the awesome performances in the men's 800m. British lad came last but has run a personal best and was just so pleased to be in the final. All the runners have run some sort of PB or national record, including David Rudisha, who has broken the world record.

I love all horsey sports, but dressage has always been my least favourite until today. Who would've thought how entertaining dressage to music could ever be? I loved that!

I'm a huge diving fan and those events have been a real treat. It was nice to see the Chinese domination ended by the Russian Ilya Zakharov in the mens 3m springboard. Our Chris Mears final dive in that event was out of this world. It's a shame they weren't all that good! Tom Daley starts tomorrow night in the 10m diving. Really really hope he wins a medal, any medal!

Some well deserved medals in dressage and boxing :clap: I'm exhausted just watching!:lol:

Have you watched any of the handball :shock: Now that was exhausting to watch

It's certainly fast-paced! I'm put off by the idea of a sticky ball though! Irrational, I know :lol:

Jamaica 1-2-3 200m. Great race.

Bit shocked that there is no TeamGB in ladies 4x1. We're normally medal winners in that.

I wasn't impressed when they were interviewing the Jamaicans during the Kenya national anthem :?

The Jamaicans were trying to watch, but the interviewer kept asking questions...what's that about? :?

My YS uses a sticky ball for canoe polo - it helps to grip the ball when its wet. In the canoe polo world you are frowned upon if you drop the ball on the floor as it picks up all the dirt and loses its tackiness quite quickly. They don't usually last too long and at about £40 each are quite expensive. He'd quite like to have a go at the handball, he's been watching it on the tv. :D

Oh he made me cross too. Usain Bolt always respects the national anthems of other Countries and that interviewer knew that. He should have waiting. I have found that man most annoying throughout the Olympics. He keeps pushing people with crass questions when they dissappointed and are heartbroken

I agree about the anthem comments - it was totally disrespectful of the interviewer to talk over the anthem and force the Jamaican athletes to reply whilst they were showing all the respect due to somebody else's fantastic achievement. I've always thought these 'trackside' interviews are hugely irritating, they are very shallow. If he says 'Tell me your thoughts' once more I shall switch him off
