Mammogram recall

I'm so sorry about your friend Ms Marple, sad news. I hope everything goes well for Monday, the likelihood is that it is probably another cyst, especially as you've just been through a very stressful and upsetting time. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

My beloved uncle from Devon is currently terminally ill with bladder cancer which has spread to his stomach, chest and brain. This has all happened within about the last 5 weeks. :( He's had no treatment other than palliative care as it had already spread when they found it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Ms Marple, and I hope that your lump turns out to be benign; I've been there myself and it's scary, especially after a good friend of mine died of breast cancer (after a 5 year fight) 10 years ago, we were the same age :(

Another friend (younger than me) is going for a biopsy next week.

Sending 'be just a fatty lump vibes' to all those concerned.

Many thanks to all of you who have posted so positively- that helps no end. My appt is Monday afternoon and I will let you know how I go on. I feel more positive since Monday anyway. It's just been such a sad few months in many respects. A lovely, young man in my year group (year 11) took his own life at the end of May with just two papers left to go in one subject. No letter, NO signs, but obviously premeditated. Such a desperately sad waste of a life- but he made a choice so I have to respect that. He got 9A*and 1A as well.

That is so sad such a waste of such a young life. You have to wonder what was so bad that they had to take such a decision. A parent at the club I belong to took her life leaving her two boys who were members I often wonder what made her feel the need to end it all, she appeared to be happy and to have lots of opportunities and two lovely young boys but clearly there was more to her life than as a club member I knew.

Will be thinking of you on Monday.

Chrissie

Fingers crossed for you - It may not be as bad as you think - the biopsy looks worse than it is really and they are very very good and thorough and I am sure you will be okay. Keep positive - it really is the only way and you can get through this bad spell you have had - what a bad year and I am so sorry for your friend. Yes the screening is at 50 here and I would not have been diagnosed for another 3 years if I had had to wait till 60 as I had no lump obvious.

My motto is now Life is too short so go and enjoy yourself - I am off to America on Thursday for the second time this year to visit friends who also came over here in June and I intend to make the most out of life as one never knows the minute....

Big hugs and will be checking in to see how you got on.

Hello you really lovely bunch of people!!

I spent my three hours being checked over very thoroughly and it was another cyst which they aspirated before I left. I am so relieved and feeling very lucky. Quite cross with myself for letting my mind really run away with itself over the past fortnight, but then as you are aware it has not been my best summer by any means. The consultant also said that I need to up my dose of EPO from 1g to 3g per day for the next 6 months and also limit my caffeine intake to about two cups per day. Apparently nicotine and caffeine are known to stimulate cyst production in the breasts. I have actually been trying to reduce my caffeine anyway so I now have a better incentive.

Once again thank you to all who have sent me good wishes and/or advice. There have been a few times when I felt I should post but then I bottled it up instead. Writing a eulogy for a 16 year old and reading out in front of 100 of his schoolfriends and parents in the midst of GCSEs, in a church has to rank amongst the worst things I have ever had to do. You just hope and pray, 'Never again'.

Carpe diem :D
