Groovychook
I can't wait for this... it's on BBC2 on Thursday at 9pm It involves 50 cats in a village in Surrey who've had GPS units attached to their collars. I've always wanted to see what my gang get up to when they're out of sight!
Space Chick
I've set it to record.... It should be fascinating
bluekarin
Thanks I shall enjoy watching that. I often wonder what my cats get up too as well.
Gertie
I'm excited to see this as well. I have considered getting a device for my cats as I'm so curious. I know mine roam far & kill things (sadly), and sleep a lot!
redbug
That sounds very interesting would love to see where mine disappears to
Couperwife
It should be good Ithink my little madam wakes us, eats, goes next door, sleeps, wakes up, eats, comes home, eats
chuckmum6
I've set the recorder, I'm sure my cats would make terribly boring videos, sofa, food bowl, sofa, dash to the hedge to wee, food bowl, sofa ........
Daphne
I am very excited
AndreaT
Was very disappointed for a second, it's not on BBC2 Scotland at 9pm. It is however on at 1120pm! There's a follow up on Friday at 10pm.
counturchickens
Yep, planning to watch tonight, although my cat doesn't go much further than the patio
Alis girls
It was very good - frankly if they came to our area they would be very disappointed in my cat Honey - her dot on the screen wouldnt move. We poke her occasionally to see if shes still alive - lazy yup you bet
Daphne
I was a bit disappointed, I didn't feel I learnt very much. It felt like an exercise in proving some stuff you already knew from your own experience as an owner via a large scale (expensive) research programme. And even then they made some sweeping generalisations so I'm not sure it was good science either. I got a bit bored, too much technology and people and not enough cats for my liking Still, I now know what the underside of a cat's chin looks like
lillybettybabs
I didn't learn anything new and the cats were rather chubby too!
Egluntyne
Not being a cat owner, I found it rather interesting.
Daphne
Good point Egluntyne I didn't learn anything new and the cats were rather chubby too! I think we saw the reason for that - they ate out as well as at home every night We routinely used to have neighbouring cats wandering in to our house for a snack, and although I didn't realise it at the time, one of our boys used to go over for his tea at a house belonging to a neighbour, apparently the 2 cats would share a bowl
bluekarin
I am glad it wasn't just me who thought it was disappointing. It was more about how marvellous we are for making teeny tiny cameras and less about what the cats were doing. I thought it was going to be more cat nocturnal activity footage
Goosey Lucy
There's another programme on tonight you can read about it here. I'm hoping it will be more videos and less scientists.
clucker1
Ok, just watched the follow up program. Think I need promotion to super scientist. OH and I were not surprised by the results of their 70s experiment. OH suggested "The Secret Life of Chickens". So most people think they lay eggs??? What else do they do? Ours is like a soap drama, especially at the moment as we are on day 5 of intros....the BIG question is each night, who is going to sleep where in the cube?!!! Old Speckled Hen
More than a bit disappointing;us folk with cats would know. Now, I recall a wonderful film made by the late great natural history cameraman Maurice Tibbles. Much Much better, His tomcats ranged twenty miles in one night, I remember
Alis girls
The most exciting bit was being a tad too close to a pukey cat. At least didnt have to clear up after it.
