gavclojak
Good morning guys My darling princess layer lost her battle to stay with me this morning. She was doing so well after having the implant fitted but over the last few days she just wasn't herself and nosedived yesterday....she didn't eat or drink, I tried all day to tempt her, worms, tuna mince,grapes....she just wasn't interested then about six last night she tucked herself in the corner of the run and I knew I was going to lose her.. I popped her in with the girls for her last night and this morning I went to let them out and called them as per usual and I heard this strange bang...when I opened the cube she was on her side with her eyes closed, so I picked her up and she snuggled into me and we cuddles for about five minutes and she passed away. I am sure she waited for me so we could say goodbye to each other...she was such a brave girl and I'm so proud of her... Please don't send sad messages....smiley faces and clap's only please as I want her life to be celebrated.....she deserves that....the photo of her was taken recently ....sleep tight my lovely princess layer...a royal name for a majestic lady :clap My first loss....and it stings http://i1328.photobucket.com/albums/w530/LisaFrater/146614ab-d199-4677-8ec5-fafcf3caccbf_zpsd2c1b3ba.jpg http:// Edited August 25, 2014 by Guest
Leicester_H
As an ex-bat she must have had a great time with you to grow those feathers - she looks GREAT. She looks like she had 'attitude' ! I bet she was a character. Sleep tight little one, H
mullethunter
I am smiling and I know you said no sad posts but yours has made me cry (which I'm not given to) Well done you and Princess Layer though. You because you gave her such a lovely forever home and her because she fought so hard and waited to see her best person at the end to get the best send off a chicken could have. Smiling now

redsunset
Och, as we say up north! That chook had such a fab life. She lasted way longer than most due to the TLC she received from you....or should I say totally spoilt! What a a lucky life she entered into in her mid life. Never regret, only be glad

redsunset
Always imagined you had six of the lovely ex-bats, but seems it was four? Tentative question....will you get some more? I do hope so, as know the kind of life they will fall into with you......
jimnpaula
Always imagined you had six of the lovely ex-bats, but seems it was four? Lisa had 5 originally but Hen Solo came home with me as she was getting seriously picked on.
redsunset
Forgot about hen solo! Assume she is now doing just fine with you? I remember the trials and tribulations there and glad it was a good outcome for you both. Hope Lisa gets another couple soon?
gavclojak
Funny you should say that redsunset. I volunteer for the BHWT and during our next rehoming I am going to bring some strays home, maybe three or four.. I am just looking for a second hand classic to pop them in:) Paula was a star when they all attacked poor solo and it's all credit to her solo is doing so well. Paula took some girlies at our last rehoming too so how amazing is she!! Lovely photos if your lot! Doodlebugs and dogs...life is pretty sweet isn't it xx
