New Years Resolutions, Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I don't even try....I hate January...and find if I want to try a new years resolution it will have to wait until September...

I think it goes back to starting a new school year....but most my jobs have always started in September, I got married in September, moved house both times in September...September is just a good time for change and something new...

So definitely no resolutions here....

I have two this year.

The first is easy, positive and not a challenge. It is to do some sort of exercise every day for the entire year. I'm already in the zone for this one.

The second will be hard and is negative. I am determined to not let my family upset me so much this year. I must look after myself and not absorb guilt they have assigned to me. This one is a toughie but I want to shake them off and have a fresh new year.

I made one at the start of December, thinking if I could do it then I could keep it going in 2015.

It was a fairly simple one.... Not having carbs for lunch ie. bread on work days..... So no sandwiches for me.... I've been making lovely salads and soups instead. this was following a slight increase in my HBA1C (an annual blood test, which checks your average blood sugars over three months), so carbs were to be limited even further and a lunchtime sandwich seemed the obvious choice!

So far so good! :D

To wear my specs when buying food. The joint of lamb I had earmarked for dinner on New years day got put back to Friday as we were all a bit fragile to cook it. I was at work all day Friday and at lunch time got a call from a puzzled OH asking if there was more than one joint of meat in fridge as he could only find pork  so we had pork which was very well cooked and the Hungarian nurse I work with thought it was hysterical. As I dropped her at the station she said "enjoy your roast"

Oke fine... I made one... A bit late, but rather late then never, right?

I remembered I'm going on an exchange trip in March with my mentor class. And there we do a (little) hike up a (little) mountain. (well any mountain is huge, when you are from Holland!)

My stamina is rather bad... (oke non-existence :anxious: ) and I need to drag myself up that mountain as well, together with about 100 kids. Luckily my not so young colleague is joining me, but he has been walking a lot lately.

So... I decided I need to do at least 5 walks a week. Starting small, but need to get it up to something. Can't practice with any hills, but at least the walking part won't be so bad...
