The Dogmother

The randomness that is today

Bill, you are my new hero!

I sometimes do pick up after people and kindly return their stuff, telling them they dropped it and looking very concerned for the property. Often they don't know what to say, grab what ever they tossed and walk away.

On the other hand, since I drive a motorcycle, I made it my task to inform car drivers about their faulty lights. I drive up next to them at stop lights and ask them to roll down their window. The first reaction is always one of total surprise and distrust. But when I tell them what's the matter, most of them are very grateful and thank me for telling them.

Today I had a woman tell me to P-off because she got her pin wrong on the card machine. That was my fault apparently.

It was her third time, so her pin & card were then blocked. Also my fault

She actually asked me...ME....what her correct pin was, because she is in the shop all the time, so I should know!

But then a lovely lady gave me the free packets of seeds from the front of her gardening magazine, which was so sweet.

Cat tails, one night a few weeks ago I was stopped at lights and a motorbike pulled up next to me and knocked on the window :anxious: . I only opened it a tiny little bit - enough for him to tell me I had no lights on. He was right, I'd just driven off and not put my lights on, and I was very grateful he told me :D.

Sometimes people are unexpectedly thoughtful and kind, which goes a long way to making up for all those other people that are not.

It was incredibly foggy today and managed to tell 2 drivers they had no lights on and one van driver that his tail light was broken.

Your reaction is what I get most times. Very apprehensive at first, but thankful when they understand what I was trying to do. And don't get me wrong, I totally understand the apprehension! I would react the same way.

I hope I never scare people too much, but once I was driving behind this lady that had a broken tail light and she parked very close to my house. So I stopped behind her car (it was dusk) and waited for her to get out. She took FOREVER! Collecting her things, looking in her rearview mirror if I was still there, fiddling with her bag, checking again. Finally she got out and wanted to sprint to her house. Then I told her about her tail light and apologised for scaring her. She was soooo relieved! Thanked me and in the heat of moment left her bag sitting on the roof of her car and hurried indoors. So I had to get off, get her bag and ring her doorbell... Her face... Priceless!

I had a lady at my checkout this week, & we chatted about chickens, with me saying I kept several & had done for about 8 years.

She asked how my neighbours coped with the cockerel.....perfectly well I replied, we don't have one.

'Oh' says she, 'then you can't ever get any eggs'

I tried & tried & TRIED to explain that you don't need a cockerel to get eggs, but she insisted that you did (mainly because her Grandad had one).

There is just no explaining to some people.

I always explain by saying that us women 'lay' an egg every month and we don't need a man to do that.

We only need a man if we want to fertilise the egg - the same as chickens

I am sure I have managed to put quite a few students off eggs for life for explaining this to them :oops::lol::lol:

I still remember the first time I had to reverse park outside your house Dogmother :anxious::anxious::anxious:

Don't think I'd been driving very long, would be fine now as we lived just off the high street in Aber and had to reverse park outside our house every day!

Yeah I was driving back from a friends in my Moms car and the fan was making a massive racket so I pulled off the motorway, turned up at yours in a panic and we rang the AA!

Tash (Redwing) was at yours picking up an eglu so we helped load that into her car while we waited
