Minnie&Moose
I've finally taken the plunge and signed up to rehome some exbats/excaged birds (not sure what they're called these days). We've had chickens for 7 years now - hybrids, posh birds, big, small, and now it feels like it's time to make space for a couple of 'ginger ninjas'! Just hope they like their new home and their new neighbours Edited November 24, 2016 by Guest

Alis girls
So am I today. very nervous as not had new girls for some time and my last introduction was two lone hens to each other. Today I am getting 2 pol's to go with my old bird. I am nervous as working long hours next week but hope they will be ok. If i leave her any longer and I think shes lonely as when I go down shes very affectionate and chats to me. Good luck

Alis girls
Wondered how Minnie's ex bats were doing - have you got them yet? I have a Whitwell black called Demelza and a grey something Bendish blue I think (forgive me i was so goggle eyed at the girlies and wanted them all) called Prudie. Shes a comely hen with a bit of an attitude which we may come to regret. But she'll be a match for Maggie Mag my old bird who has chuntered summat rotten from afar. We got lost on the way as sat nav did a funny and by the time we got there OH a town lad trying hard to embrace the country life was bleeping fit to burst as we drove thro country lanes with me saying " look isnt the scenery lovely" But he cheered up when we got there and was holding Prudie in his arms - he likes curvy gals. Minnie&Moose
Congratulations on your new birds Alis Girls. Ours have now arrived, and as someone predicted, we ended up with 3 They've been here about an hour and already 2 of the 3 are eating, we've had some 'handbags at dawn' events, and one of them has worked out that the green stuff under foot is edible - so the lawn is obviously in for a battering until they can be moved into the main chicken pen. I'll try and post pictures later - but they're not as bald as I'd expected though they do pong something horrible Tomorrow I'll add the ensuite dust bathing facilities (cat tray filled with dirt) so that will help with the person hygiene problems. Haven't seen them drink yet but so far they appear to be taking things very much in their stride - they're particularly interested in the 2 howling banshee broodies who are in their respective cages further up the garden and are intermittently threatening death or worse to anyone stupid enough to approach them - including the cat
Cat tails
Sounds good! Have names yet?
Alis girls
Yup we need names.
Minnie&Moose
Not sure re names yet. One option is Faith, Hope and Charity, but I'm pretty keen on Hatchet, Helga and Hildebrande - and I know exactly which one should be Hatchet! She's already assumed top hen position and is keen to remind her 'friends' of just how important she is.

Ah as they are ex cage fighters you should go with the first option, Faith, they waited with faith that someone would give them a happy retirement Hope, let's hope lots more girls get rehomed this year Charity, what would all those ladies do without bhwt? Minnie&Moose
A couple of pictures of the new girls - amazingly they all put themselves to bed before 8pm!
Alis girls
Wish mine knew what a bed was. OH and I went to look at 11.30pm with a torch and Demelza was asleep on the corn bin and Prudie on the branch in the run. I realised they are used to a darkened barn and probably sleeping on the floor. So scooped them up and put in Eglu pod. They werent too impressed but slightly worried if they got spooked in the night they might kick up a noise.
gavclojak
Lovely girls, not long little ones and your face's will soon have some colour.
Minnie&Moose
The 'mob' are up and about. Hatchet is hogging 3 feeding stations (quite effectively!) while Hester has discovered the nest box and Helga/Hildebrande is chuntering to herself as she mooches round the run. Molly the cat is transfixed by them - don't think she's been this interested in chickens since we hatched chicks last year! There have been a couple of nose to beak sniffing events (stupid cat, she'll get pecked), and Molly has also stuck her head in through the egg port for a nosey when I was checking on Hester who has discovered the joys of dust-bathing in the nest box
