dancing cloud
It's that time of year again. Fingers, toes, paws and claws crossed for everyone involved, including my twin nephews . My sister-in-law and I both agree that waiting for someone else's results is more stressful than waiting for your own!

dancing cloud
Work colleague's daughter did not quite get the grades she needed for her choice of university , but has got ACC so will get a place through clearing. Means a short period of uncertainty and yet more interviews, though I'm sure it will all be worthwhile. No news from my nephews yet ... Chucky Mama
I have avoided posting anything about the application process and A levels until it was all over in case I jinxed something! YS managed to get 2 interviews and 2 offers for Medicine at Newcastle and St Georges in London in the Autumn and he go the grades today and so it off to Newcastle to do Medicine All very stressful but am delighted I no longer have children in school and soon will have no children at home. bluekarin
Thats a scary thought isnt it Chuckymama! We will be there in 2 years when youngest goes to uni. Mind you, it will only be quiet for a year before the eldest is back Anyhoo, ds is pleased with his marks. A,A,B The B is an A2 so he will be retaking that next year. So proud of him. Well done to all of your clever kids, whatever their marks.

The Dogmother
Another proud mum here; Rosie reaped the rewards of 2 years of hard slog, and got A*, A*, B. She has unconditional offers from all of her choices, but looks to be sticking with Edinburgh. I couldn't be prouder of her! She will be reading Zoology and wants to concentrate on marine conservation after a year of travelling, working here, and working on a conservation project abroad. clucker1
Snapdragon, it's not that bad, quite fun at times! ED did media ( v exciting and current), history and English, which for me are all great subjects so we've had lots of really good debates, discussions over the last 2 years. Then alongside all this, they are growing up and maturing into young adults which is really wonderful too. It does come with its aargh moments, but that is all part of it I think. Now when YS comes into this era, I might be pulling my hair out as maths and science aren't my strength !!

chickencam
I put it down to the eggs consumed My YD only had one AS this year, she got a C and was disappointed, she was hoping for a B, the whole group got low grades, so remarks are on the cards, she had been getting As in practice papers on the run up to the exam. She wants to get into mental health in some form or another, if anyone has any experience of this and know if she can do it by apprenticeship etc. I would be grateful for any information. Well done all

dancing cloud
And the good news keeps coming! Work colleague's daughter has got a place at Sheffield via clearing . She's absolutely thrilled, as it was a unversity she'd wanted to apply to intially but didn't think she'd get the grades to go there. Funny how things work out
ubereglu
A belated 'Well Done' to everyone on their A level results. I'm not sure where the last 5 years has gone, which was when I collected mine, and the first year of my PhD is nearly over now too, and I'm in the midst of attempting to design another year of field trials, both here (Norwich), Herfordshire and France...Busy!!! Special well done to Rosie too Clare, I can't believe she's that old already, as wasn't she only just starting secondary when I met you that one time?!
