Lesley
erm........... I made a mistake when ordering porridge oats - I ordered 3kg instead of 1kg Apart from the obvious porridge, which I have most days, and flapjacks does anyone have any good oat recipes? Tina C
As a change from porridge - soak oats, sunflower seeds, raisins in apple or orange juice overnight. In the morning either eat as it is or add grated apple/other fresh fruit and/or plain yoghurt. I prefer orange juice as I find apple juice too sweet. Also goes down well as a dessert or snack! chickencam
There is a really sinful and delicious recipe for flapjacks in Two Fat Ladies ride again 175g/6oz demerara sugar 175g/6oz butter 225g/8oz rolled oats pinch of salt Melt butter and sugar together and add oats and salt mix well. Pou into a 20 x 30cm/8 x 12in greased tin and press down firmly. Bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes but keep an eye on it because it will burn easily. I also put raisins, nuts or anything I feel like in mine and they are the nicest Flapjacks ever like toffee and oats yum yum

Trish
replace about 4oz of flour out of your favourite bread recipie. Makes a lovely chewy loaf that goes great with soups etc.

The Dogmother
I've just made some flapjacks - mine are based out the basic recipe, but I add Omega seeds (sunflower, linseed and pumpkin), chopped prunes, dates and figs - scrumptious! Eggsfactor
I replace 1/4 of the flour in a crumble recipe with oats. Leave them as they are for a chewy texture or blast them in theMagimix with the dry ingredients before adding the butter etc for a lovely crisp texture. That's my favourite. Sheilaz
I use only oats, no flour, for crumbles. Yum! Plus, hope you are having porridge for breakfast daily, Lesley? Shall I remind you every morning? You'll soon get through it all & it's such a good start to the day. OK...off to nag at someone else, sorry! Lesley
I do have porridge every day! I think I'll make a few batches of flapjacks and put some in the freezer. I add the seeds mix as well Clare. They come in handy when we don't have time to eat properly. I will also add it to crumble mix - I could make a savoury base and add some sage to the crumble mix. I'll be glad when the bag is depleted a little and fits in the cupboard Thanks for all your suggestions.

BeckyBoo
we do reindeer food every year, our kids love it, trouble is one of them stayed up so late last year I was sweeping the path at about 2am! We also put glitter footprints by the kids beds, I cut out a footprint shape out of cardboard, shake glitter on to the floor through the shape of two bootprints, they think Santa was standing by their bed in the night! (trouble is you're hoovering it up for WEEKS!) One of my mates at work, when his eldest was starting to "not believe" got us on the night turn to stop outside his house at silly o'clock with a set of bells and shake them outside his sons window! So there was us creeping round his back garden in the dark - lucky we didn't get arrested! Mrs Bertie
The Dogmother
I remember my Pops making hoof prints and boot marks in the snow outside one year... well, I don't remember him doing it - he told me afterwards. Rosie 'is older' this year, which is really sad. When she was little - she used to love standing outside to see father Christmas come past on hi sleigh drawn but the Round Table tractor, up the street, waving at the children - I got all choked up and still do! I liked helping her to write her letter and put it by the fire.
Martin B
I liked helping her to write her letter and put it by the fire. Sean and I still do that, even though we're older..... Mum always puts 'Love from Santa x' on the presents too. Martin
