Grrrr...frozen solid again!

Recommended Posts

:(:(:(:(:(

Minus 10 here last night when I went to bed, but no snow. Finally had to succomb and put the heating on to take the chill out the air - this super-duper insulation, and thermal glass has meant that there has been no need to have the heating on yet. We've got rain forecast for the weekend, and Christmas day. :(

Soooo cold here this morning :( Thick freezing fog as well :(

OH is travelling down to Glasgow this afternoon via the A9. I do not like that road this time of year. I hope the police do not close the snow gates.

OH has put emergency stuff in the car boot, sleeping bag, wellies, food and water, wooly hat and gloves.

The outside thermometer has broken. It is stuck at zero. I brought it in the house and warmed it with my hot hands but it still stayed at zero.

Glug frozen solid - CTB has gone off to make a "gadget" for keeping it from freezing - we are going away just after Christmas so wont be able to change the water.

Oooh do explain the 'gadget', I always put glycerine in the water to stop it freeezing but it doesn't work in these really cold temps. Faffing about in my jammies at the freezing crack of dawn unfreezing the glug is not my idea of fun

-3.5 outside at the moment it went to -5 last night and it is only 13 degrees in my lounge, it was bright first thing but the fog is gathering.ED has gone to the black country museum today and will be outdoors all day, despite advise she has taken no hat or gloves, she is in uniform so has tights on hopefully with black socks underneath because she has raynaulds(sp) syndrome which affects her feet.

I hate it when they go on trips especially when the weather is bad and it is always more foggy near Birmingham, will be glad when she is home.

I hope she has a great time Chickencam. A great place to spend the day.

We went one Boxing Day, it was freezing cold. We ate chips in the alley next to the chip shop to try and get away from the bitter cold wind. They were the nicest chips I have ever had.

It was so cold and dark this morning and really, really thick fog, I had to clear car 3 times as it kept freezing up. Still foggy and cold

It's still here Clare and getting thicker by the minute

All the cars on the car park at work are still covered in this mornings frost, so it could be a tricky drive home tonight :(

We've got your fog now... thanks Debs

One good thing though - it has raised the temperature a bit.

The local radio station said that Cropredy (a village 5 miles outside Banbury) recorded -10 this morning. I find that very hard to believe as it was 'only' -5 here in town.

I can believe it was -10C last night at Cropredy (we're not far away either). We had to get up at 1.30am and take son and his girlfriend to Luton Airport. We had a nightmare drive down the M1 in all varieties of fog, freezing and patchy and it was in the dark, both there and back. We were back at 5.30am and it was still freezing fog. The postman told us that it was still -6C later in the morning when he started the rural round.

All our hosepipes are frozen solid and we have no water in the two outhouses. Carl has had to take buckets of water for the cows and sheep, and break the ice for chickens and ducks.

It has been -5 here all day, and thick fog  I popped out at lunchtime and couldn't see anything above about 10 floors high on the tall buildings, the tower attached to our building was missing completely  It was fairly good visiblity at street level though, but still people driving with blinding fog lights on  and some with no lights at all :roll:
