feemcg
This is where OH's house is (our country house ) - the house is in the pic. My house isn't in a very nice village although the surrounding area (Lanark and Clyde Valley) is lovely. I'm hoping to move to 'the country house' next year when my daughter leaves school . Guest
get on the m53 then the m56, cross runcorn bridge and i'll put the kettle on, see you later?
missuscluck
oh its Runcorn. WOW, Its looks very posh. I dont think I have been to Runcorn in a VERY long time. You are probably an hour or so away from me. When I was young I lived in Chester and my dad used to take us up the motorway in our batterd old car in the dark to see the lights on at the shell plant. We knew how to enjoy ourselves at our house! We would marvel at this. Its funny how the little things bring back good memories, this was an exiting treat at the time. Unfortunatly I am not sure what reception this idea would get from my kids. We were talking about the club at the top of Helsby hill yesterday with its blue cocktail lounge which you could see shining out from the motorway. Is that stlll open. We used to go in the 80's and drink blue coloured cocktails and think we were so cool!

gooner.girl
typical drive and view of my area Oooh Chelsea, it looks just like my friends part of Devon. Lovely... To be honest - whilst Lindfield is very nice - my house is just an ordinary boring one in a cul-de-sac and i would rather live somewhere more rural - a smaller village in middle of nowhere in a thatched cottage with roses round the door and plenty of land for a few animals... Chelse - Did you ever look for another house after that gorgeous one fell through earlier this year?

I've never been but I have been to J Paul Getty's former residence, 'Heathercliffe' http://www.heathercliffe.co.uk/ which is now a rather nice hotel/restaurant I'm not sure I remember seeing a blue light from Helsby hill but something in the back of mind is telling me I have! missuscluck
So Widnes then?? It was a night club. My memory is awfull. We were talking about his yesterday. When you go up the motorway and look at the hill (preferably as a passenger not a driver ) at the very edge there was a night club. We cant remeber what it was called. It may be The View. Like I said this is in the 80's early 90's.

I was going to suggest 'The Grosvenor' for afternoon tea There's a poetry night on in Chester at some jazz club, think it's called Alexanders, I've been meaning to go to for a while, you still there or have you moved on? I guessed, finaly! Alexanders bar is in Chester. I know it well. Its a good little venue. The Grosvenor for AT, ooh posh. I have moved on but go regularly to Chester as my mum still lives there. Its a lovley city. I now live in a village called Weston, just outside sunny Crewe!

Richard
Hi I've found some pictures of our village; opposite the village shop. The shop closes for good this month and then we won't have a shop at all - will have to drive or walk a couple of miles to get anything when we run out; Bottom of the road on a high tide; Our beach - in winter it's lovely and empty but it gets a bit busier in the summer! My favourite piccy of the sea/marshes at night; where I used to live until two years ago, this was my view from the back of the house. Now I have moved a couple of miles down the road and this is the view I miss! But I'm a few feet above sea level now so don't worry quite so much about flooding! I love where I live; the penalty is that I have to work three days of the week away from home - mainly in London. That means a 5.30 am get up, 40 min drive, hour and three quarter train, 20 min tube. Gets me to the office for 9.45. The reverse in the evening, although I often stay overnight so I go down one day and back the next. But its worth it to live in the country! And its only a few years to retirement and I can be here all the time
Lesley
Beautiful photos Richard! I can understand why you make the awful journey to work - it really is worth it for views like that!
Snowy
Stunning Richard - a beautiful part of the country that I've only recently discovered (Blakeney). Good you appreciate living there Emu - the area around Garstang is also beautiful. I've spent many happy hours in Th'owd Tithe Barn by the canal as well, drinking Theakston's Old Peculiar and watching the boats
Richard
View from Emu's world.. What a lovely place. I live by the marshes, as you can see, but I really do like the moors and the hills. My parents live in the Lake District and its super up there. I used to do a lot of mountain bike orienteering and we went to all sorts of remote places. that was in my youth! Jules.
Emu your views are fab. Richard I would endure a commute like that if I lived where you live.... and I think my 40 minute bus journey 4 times a week is bad.....
emu
Also an 80mile commute involved 3 times a week(not too bad) Can see Isle of Man,Anglesey and Snowdonia on a clear day Worth the 5am rise and I'll get to see the girls early too soon Couldn't live in suburbia again tho. The Dogmother
Youre views are lovely Emu and Richard. Richard, there are a couple of houses in Cley that are built to slope front back to front so that the sea can run in one side and out the other. It's not such an issue though, now they have built the dykes.
