Egluntyne
the only things I ever do are so tiny like going out for a black jumper and coming back with a red hat Tessa Tess...that did make me laugh! EGLUNTINE!!!! Step away from the computer!!! Close your purse!!! Repeat after me: I do not need ......... I know....I know! However I had persuaded my self that buying one would be about the same price having a cleaning lady come round 10 times. Plus....it would clean more than 10 times....hopefully. And it wouldn't drink tea all day long, smoke in my house and then deny all knowledge of it, invite its friends around to sit in my sitting room drinking coffee and eating my biscuits, use my phone to ring its sister in Alberta, root through cupboards, have nuclear strength BO or steal the children's pocket money....all reasons why I have sacked cleaning ladies before now. I'm still pondering.
Ain't Nobody Here
How do you know it doesn't have a sister in Alberta?
Egluntyne
*gulp* Oh heck......I don't...... .....but the odds must be against it....mustn't they? Please say yes.
Eyren
It's all right, Egluntine - just check it for those little phone sockets like computer modems use. It can't phone if it can't plug itself in
Charlottechicken
Not impulsive here, I'm afraid The best I can do is deciding to buy a new car 24 hours before doing so. I really have to sit and think things through before I buy, and I don't like owning a lot of 'stuff'. I have £65 in a Great Universal account waiting to be spent and I really can't decide what to buy, although there is a tempting mattress topper for exactly that amount Mind you, that robot vacuum cleaner sounds good Is it the Omlet 'next big thing'
Blackrocksrock
Goodness no more impulse buys please - are some of you employed by these firms to start a panic buy!!!!!!!!!!!! My impulse buy was my car online from a dealership 230 miles away - I bought it unseen and unsat in and never sat in one before - it is wonderful and they drove it up to me! Lailapet
Sadly the Allegro wasn't to be - OH made me cancel the deal Probably wisely ) My ex husband used to have an Allegro. He called it "The All Agro" so I think you were lucky there... My brother loves his Roomba and I want one too, but have too many little steps - and have also told myself that my wooden floors are better off being swept and washed! I can't think of any examples but am bound to have bought something on impulse... Laila
ubereglu
Well I went to Glastonvury yesterday with Mum and Dad and just had to have a nosey in the lookatmycrazyshoes.com actual shop and came back with flower jibbitz for £1 each....Ooops, mind you, if it hadn't been them it would have been a pair of primas if they had the colour I wanted!!! Egluntyne
Him Indoors used to have an Allegro....years ago. When filling in a form for a car park badge he was asked what colour the vehicle was. It was a dirty beige....called "Champagne" by the manufacturer. He put "pus coloured" on the form.....and that was what was put onto the badge! Bit like Phil with his beard - it's fine when it's short, but when he doesn't shave for a few days, he looks like Captain Birdseye!

I'm still pondering. Wow your cleaners are worse than mine. Most of mine just end up leaving early and not bothering to do what's asked. I'm very tempted by the robot cleaner. In my defence I had been looking at one just the other day. Maybe I could get rid of the cleaner too. As you say they do nothing.
Egluntyne
I'm ever so tempted. I would really like to see one in action first though. I see that they sell a simpler version at John Lewis. I might pop in this week and see if they do demos with it. Hmmmmmmmm. Just think....it could be whistling round the house now whilst I'm on the forum.(and working.....allegedly!) Louise
I got mine at Costco so it was £165 not £199 which is what the regular UK price is but it may be even cheaper to get one from a US website with the exchange rate at the moment being so good thay are unavailable in alot of places in the UK I have been looking for spare filters etc Mine is a 530 but there is an all singing and dancing one called a 560 which you can put on a timer She may have a sister in Alberta but I have put the phone too high up for her to reach
little chickadee
I hope these vacuum cleaners have improved since I got mine. We only had it for two days and it fell apart - Luckily the shop took it back. It had pretty dreadful reviews on Amazon too from other people. (I think it was a Roomba) Good luck with it anyway & I hope they are better now.
chocchick
I may regret this...... Egluntine you can come and see our Roomba if you want. It is OH's favourite toy. I'm sure it ate 2 (odd) earrings though OH put something over the sensor as it can get confused by light levels/patterns and panic that it is falling down stairs It is good for carpet/tops of wardrobes (take off tape from sensor!), but poor on shiny floors and pushes the dirt around. The Dogmother
OH put something over the sensor as it can get confused by light levels/patterns and panic that it is falling down stairs Sorry Choccster, just the thought of a confused vacuum cleaner freaking out had me in fits! Wouldn't like my house then if it doesn't like hard floors - mine is nearly all the original Victorian wooden floorboards. Oh well, I don't mind hoovering and mopping, and Biscuit likes to 'help' too.
