What are you up to today?

Recommended Posts

Today I have mostly been at the hairdressers :D After growing out my fringe I now have it back :D OH still hasn't noticed and I have been home 2 hours

Sitting at the hairdressers looking in the mirror at myself I realised I am turning into my mum :? Not that she is horrible but it was strange to see her looking back at me

Just given the Eglu a bit of a clean, topped up dustbath and had a quick poo pick in the run.

Next will be the bunny hutch. Oh for a Rablu :!:

OH not noticed, Ali :shock::roll:

Cleaned everything remotely chickeny except chickens. Fingers dry and sore, tired, and achy. Hoping for nice relaxing night in apart from cooking mother's day cake (and cleaning chicken shoe area of kitchen  )

Chickens have clean plastic palace.

Chickens rooting round in the earth John dug out for future barkchipped area, hours of chicken entertainment. Chickens "assisted" in digging too. 8)

Bought Bumper Bits for all chickens as we have a serious case of bald bottoms and eaten eggs - our girls are now not speaking to us and pretending thay can't eat or drink

It is raining here now and so we can't possibly clean the Eglus  - I'll just have to go and eat sugared almonds and read the paper

I've scrubbed my house to within an inch of it's life, everything's sparkling and clean, and prepared a feast as I've been expecting my Mum to visit... she's flying to Libya  on holiday tomorrow, from Gatwick airport and had planned to stay in a hotel close to the airport overnight, and pay us a quick visit, sort of en route... well a huge detour really but since she lives in Manchester Gatwick is on the doorstep by comparison.

But she's stood me up.... mobile switched off at the moment and I can't make contact. We had a major disagreement midweek though, so I guess I'm being chastised for not doing what was expected of me. Very, very long story, but I'm furious on behalf of my children, they barely know her as it is.... and now she's let them down too. But we've got a fabulous seafood platter, salads and jacket spuds.... and rather too many bottles of wine... and a sparkling house so I can eat, drink and be merry for the rest of today, and then relax tomorrow

Well, after the sunshine first thing disappeared, I have been in the garden cleaning out the menagerie, revamping the Eglu runs and putting some paving slabs under the door end of the run extension in an effort to avoid the mudbath near the door where I crouch down to put food and stuff in.

Also sone some minor gardening - some neighbours are bringing their smallsters round at 3pm to see the chooks - they're the only ones not to have been round yet! Phil's gone to see his folks and to take Mother's day flowers to his Mum. His car wouldn't start this morning, so he's taken my van instead

Cooking a Moroccan Lamb dish with beans and stuff this afternoon so that we can have a nice early supper.

Today Carl and I went on a Pottery Workshop at the Herb Centre which I booked last December - well it seemed like a good idea at the time  I didn't know that we'd be hoping for a decision on a smallholding

The course is usually for 6 people and I booked for us and my daughter and my sister. The other 2 people didn't turn up so we had a lovely family group.

We could make anything we wanted - anything at all. Without any preliminary discussions between us this is what we made.

Me - A matching Barbecue set of salt, pepper, olives, chutney 'things', set of 4 coasters

Carl - Beer Mugs

Daughter - Lasagne Dish, Olive dishes and cream jug.

Sister - Fruit/salad bowl, Teapot stand, set of dishes.

We're not food obsessed - honestly!.....well, the clay did look like a big slab of G&B's which didn't help, and if you rolled it into balls they looked like Maltesers and the water we used ended up looking like Hot Chocolate...................

The lady running the course has probably gone for a long lie down now

It sounds like a great day out Lesley.... and the items you all made sound very useful 8)

We've just had a great day assembling my new cement mixer.... definitely a 2 man job  , heavy or what  and we've dug trenches which are now filled with a concrete foundation onto which I intend to build a wall over the Bank Holiday weekend. All 5 chickens have had concrete wellies on today... daughter was put on chicken watching duty and spent the bulk of her time washing little starfish feet. Lottie was the worst offender

Lovely sunny and warm day today.... great to be in the garden again.... pity the house is looking so unloved now :wink:

Must admit I'm a bit envious of you with sunshine, we've had rain a little more rain followed by more and thrown in for good measure sleet

My eldest went out the the Wirrel Peninsula to play rugby and I expected the worst with the kit, and it hardly looked worn! he'd have got muddier playing in the garden

Must be 'cos I keep looking at the lawn mower!!

It hailed here too. My chooks were Ok though - they have a corrugated plastic roof over the eglu run. 8)

Today, I took some garden rubbish down the dump :? , dug over the garden :x , tormented my wife by doing different DIY jobs than those I was "supposed to be doing" , played football with my sons :D , and registered for an OU course  .
