Lesley
Very cold here this morning - my weather station is on its way, wish I had it already. Can you give us an update on it when it arrives Lesley please What you think of it, ease of setting up etc as I'm feeling left out not being able to give temperatures -lol All I know is that it is gloriously sunny here but feels very cold. Well................it is precisely -2.7 at the moment!!!! - and still dropping It arrived this morning! It took minutes to set up - a couple of minutes to site the transmitter outside - and we were up and running. I'm very pleased with it. It took a few minutes more to settle and start giving accurate readins......... Old Speckled Hen
It was just above freezing yesterday morning and we had about 1.5 inches of snow. Here are some photos taken at 7.15am yesterday. What a lovely scene No paw or chicken prints .... yet Was -8.75 last night and - 6.5 this morning when I fed the girls and put in their water. Seems colder tonight and I've had to ice break the chook's and the garden birds' water three times but I've checked the thermometer and it's only -2. Sunny spells all day. No snow here but some forecast. Spent some time bullfinch proofing our fruit trees ( Have seen them on our flowering cherry already ... they are welcome to those buds but GRRRRRRRR not my young fruit trees that were gifts from the family when we moved in last year. Ardene5
it was -6 this morning as we left for work, I spoke to a man who left Preston at 3am this morning and it was -9... crikey.... I have wrapped my eglu in bubble wrap Hi Everyone Preston to Preesall is just 15 miles away around 1.30 am this morning here in Preesall just 400 yards from the sea it was -6! As I(Ian) walked the girls (boxers) later this morning the was frost and frozen pools of water on the beach which if you consider is sea water it must have been cold. It has been dry but cold all day there was a bit of sunshine around but as the day went on it became cloudy. Just been out to put some food out incase there are any hedgehogs or other animals out on this cold night there is some food for them. We know hedgehogs should be asleep but just before Christmas we found a small hedgehog in our garden we rescued it hoping to be able to release it in the Spring but even with the help of our vets and us feeding it. Junior died over the weekend, so we are putting out food incase there are any around. We hope everyone every where had a great Christmas and are hopefully going to have a great 2009. We hope that this money climate is sorted out soon and does not effect anyone how chats on here! How is the weather in your neck of the woods wherever you are in the World you are ? Best regards Ian & Valerie
Cinnamon
Goodness knows what last nights temperature was,but we have woken to frozen pipes & no water in the house Hubby has just been defrosting them with his blow torch.Apparantly the pipe with the softened water in is near to the tumble drier outlet by the wall, & the cold draft had frozen it solid..... Egluntyne
Oh heck. I hope it gets sorted....so that you can have a cup of tea and clean your teeth at least!

Cinnamon
Oh heck. I hope it gets sorted....so that you can have a cup of tea and clean your teeth at least! Tea & coffee are not a problem as there is water in the Tassimo Anyhow, happily they are unfrizz now & the girls are showering. Being teenage girls they apparantly HAVE to have a shower every morning,or they cannot go to school. I think its the law or something

Snap, we've got the same although none are accessible to defrost, had to go down the lane and borrow some water from the neighbour for the chooks. Worst thing is its dropped another 2 degrees since I got up. I'm hoping that nothing has burst as I'm going skiing on Saturday and will have to cancel as I can't leave housesitters without water. ClaireG
Woke up to another sprinkling of snow and it was still snowing although was very small flakes. It's stopped now but the sky has that snowey look to it.
..lay a little egg for me
STILL not snowing here and my car battery has died due to the cold, the jump leads did nothing and nor did the battery charger . OH has gone out to get a new battery and/or new battery charger and/or new jump leads. I am leaving it all up to him as the path from the front door is covered in ice and lethal. Animals seem to be coping fine though...I think because it is dry cold not wet and cold. Have had to relent and put the central heating on for the first time this winter. It was -8 last night.
