chelsea
after several hours on the road from 7am this morning, I never made it to work! A journey that normally takes me down the M5 to the airport has taken me on a detour all over the country lanes of Devon . Work have told me to come home because I cant get there (and I nearly didnt get home), we've had severe flooding here, and hailstorms. One poor chap has lost 500 sheep overnight in the flash flooding. Loads of accidents and every road I went down this morning ended in a flood. I can sort of laugh about it now, but I was freaking out. It was like something out of a film...every road was a dead end. I felt like highway patrol, I've been flagging down every vehicle I saw to tell them the roads were impassable. Rhapsody
Its because my MIL was down your way. She is the Rain and Bad Weather Goddess, we should ship her out to Ethiopia to end the drought. Once she went to Surfer's Paradise and made it snow in their summer for the first time ever recorded. And in Hawaii they had the worst weather for 50 years. She's back in Hampshire now (thats why its freezing in the South East) so your weather should improve. Hope you're ok x

Blackrocksrock
omg it looks horrible and glad you are back home safely - the poor farmer to lose so many sheep - its dreadful. The weather is so bad - we were sliding all over the place this morning as we had had frost on top of snow or vice versa and the underfoot was lethal and loads of accidents around this area to-day. Its now raining/sleety stuff and miserable and the ground is so wet and my girls have been let out of the large run as they want to shelter under the trees at the back door after their hot porridge with sweetcorn and spinach and potato oats and bread all mixed up with hot water. Just aswell its half term for you Lisa, I met several cars on the back flooded country lanes trying to find their way to Blundells school, but there was no way through in any direction....they turned around and went home. Valkyrie
OMG - didn't realise it was so bad there! Glad you're OK. My mum has been staying in Warminster this week and she phoned to say they had really bad hail. We had nothing here at all, in fact it was quite nice until dusk and then the clouds gathered. We didn't get hail as far as I know, just the snow. It rained heavily this morning but it is sunny now. I think we are quite lucky here. Perhaps I'll have to cross Devon off my places to move to list!
