Rutland Water is just up the road from me and it's been really bad. No wonder the sailing event is off. The photos I posted earlier here were taken there this morning.

Just out of interest, when I was about 10/11 I used to live in Edith Weston and our garden backed on to fields which are now Rutland Water! The "museum" used to be a mausoleum in the middle of fields I used to cycle past.

OH and I went there for a couple of days last summer, so I could wander down memory lane and we could do the circuit on hired bikes. We had a great time and had lunch in a lovely little pub about half way round. Perfect! :D

I drive through Edith Weston each day on my way to work at Empingham, well I do when the school is open and not closed due to snow :!:

Some days Rutland Water looks so beautiful I wish I could stop rather than go to work :lol::lol:

We moved to Rutland in 1991 so the Water has always been there although a friend helped to dig it out and has shown me photos of it before the Water :!:

Far less snow up north, and Banbury is still the same, it hasn't melted much at all - 4" or so on the lawn, and loads of ice on the side roads and paths. I have a shovel and bits of carpet in the back of the van, and had to dig some ice away from under the wheels when i drove over to Rosie's Dad to pick Ruby up.

The sun has gone in here now and it's getting colder; I wouldn;'t be at all surprised to see snow again tonight.

We were snowed in on Thurs and Fri, no one in a normal car could get out of the village, we got out yesterday and managed to do some shopping (at petrol stations as the Tesco car park was packed and tretcherous!) but are stuck in again today because of the ice on the roads where the cars slushed it up yesterday

I feel like I live in the middle of nowhere instead of half a mile from a main road!

The snow isn't melting - we have tons of the stuff!

When it gets like that here I take a sledge to carry the shopping and walk to the supermarket a couple of miles away. It's quite an adventure trudging through the snow :lol:

We trudged through the snow to get to the pub - does that count?

Unfortunately when you do get to the main road there is nothing but the pub there! the nearest shop is a few miles further on!

Hey, I'd rather trudge through the snow to the pub than the supermarket
