HENthusiastic
We have land Yippeeeeee After all that effort: knocking on doors, posting letters to local farmers, putting flyers through local doors. SPeaking to numberous people who we know who own land. Asking people to ask other people. Advertising on the internet. Asking at local shops. In the end, I mentioned it to a neibour, he popped straight home and phoned his father in law. We went to look at the land the next morning. Met with him the next afternoon. Deal done two hours later!!! Its very hilly and bumpy, but I have checked it out and apparently Alpaca's prefer that kind of landscape. Its THREE minutes away from home We are rocking Have land. Have nearly finished making the chicken house. Roll on alpacas and more chickens

HENthusiastic
Thank you all for your good wishes and congratulations I'll try to answer everything; We are probably going to get 3 alpacas, but maybe 2. Aparently, like chooks, they are okay in twos, but threes are better. I'm going to ask about that on the training course on Friday. I certainly shant be defecting to an alpaca forum. For two very good reasons. 1. I love omlet and the omletteeres. 2. I can't find an alpaca forum Not one in England anyway and I don't want to start picking up hints and tips that might not apply because of the different countries. I will indeed provide with pictures. The before ones might not be too interesting though!?!? An empty field! fret not, we will not be eating them! We are mainly having them just because they are gorgeous and cute! They have the added advantage that they hate foxes and will see them off......... so, we are going to fill the field with chickens who can freerange and be protected by their alpaca body guards. You can also sell their fleeces, but I dont think its for much. I havent found out much about spinning yet, but I hope to get into that. Does anybody anything about it? (Maybe thats another thread!) We are off to 'our' field tomorow to measure it, to check that it is big enough (just last minute worries) and then we are going to start clearing the land (bits of wood lying around). Cant wait for some free time to get down there and start making our mark on it. Well, I've rambled on enough. Tara. *waves cheerily*
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
There's a place called the weavers gallery or handweavers gallery in Walthamstow, London. It's hidden but apparently it's a spinners/weavers mecca.
