Space Chick
Ok here are the latest update pictures, the builders were here on Weds whilst I was in London, and they also came back last night, much to my surprise! More pictures tomorrow.
Chickvic
It's coming along, how much longer til they've finished?
Space Chick
Hopefully, they will be finished tomorrow. I was meant to be picking my Wernlas girls up this weekend, but have put it back to next weekend now.
Space Chick
Here are the progress so far today! The run will be finished today and will be "operational" but the path won't be finished today. I don't know when they will be finishing that. My only disappointment is that I asked Tony for an inward opening door, and I have an outward opening door, but I can live with that! Will post more pictures soon!
Ain't Nobody Here
WOW . It's huge . It's looking brilliant - can't wait to see everything set up .
Falkor
It is HUGE!!! Love the internal doors to section it all off! I am very ! Will you be moving the ladies in today?
Space Chick
Its no Janty or Egluntine size but I am very happy I am hoping to move the girls in today, but it depends on what time the builders are here until, as we will need to add things inside and part dismantle the cube etc etc, so it might be the girls bedtime by then Of course we could move them as they are sleeping, and they'll have a big shock tomorrow morning The inner double doors are going to be kept closed until the Wernlas girls arrive, so they won't miss that space during intro time

Janty
The run looks great. It's a really good idea having a part that can be sectioned off.
atsw
Here are the progress so far today! That looks fab . Everyone is getting soooo ambitious with their WIR's as time goes on, gone are the days of the 'standard' run .My only disappointment is that I asked Tony for an inward opening door, and I have an outward opening door, but I can live with that. See how it goes, but I'm sure with a tiny modification to the fame/door you could reverse the hinges and have it open inwards. Ask Tony, he's always very accommodating. Valkyrie
It does look enormous - when you see the little dot of a man standing near the back of it! Really lovely. I agree with atsw - swing the door round the other way, quite easy - you could do it yourself as it isn't heavy (says DIY old fogey) .
Space Chick
Well mother nature was against me today. The heavens opened and the rain has been lashing down, which has meant that the run is not quite finished. However, the builders are hoping to be back tomorrow evening, and have said that they will come in the evenings (weather permitting) to make sure that the girls can be moved in before the weekend and that I can go and get the Wernlas girls. Thankfully, the roof is on, so the builders were able to shelter from the elements!!
Redwing
Its fantastic! How big is it Debs? I love the linking doors and will pinch that idea for my new run if you don't mind
Space Chick
Pinch away Redwing It is 18ft by 6ft, which is 108 square feet or just over 10 square metres. Or as my builders prefer to say "Thats a massive chicken palace that is!"
chickencam
We are building our own chicken house at the moment and have bought some weld mesh for the run. Does the weld mesh need to be sandwiched between two pieces of wood or can it be fixed just onto the inside of a panel and what size pieces of wood are best to make the panels out of?
Redwing
I made my panels with 19mm x aprox 5cm wood and stapled the weldmesh to the inside as my logic said a fox could tug on it f its on the outside but would have a lot more trouble pulling it if its on the inside, not sure if thats right but it made me feel better! stoice
My Aviaries4u WIR has been delivered!!!! Well, apparently. I'm still at work though, rah. It won't get put up for a while either as my DIY expert Dad (who's customising the run to have a roof) will be on holiday next week. Plus I'd like to weather proof it first - I'm thinking green to blend in with my garden and shed? - so it has to live in the garage for a while which is frustrating. I think my OH won't be especially impressed with that as he can get a little precious over the space in the garage, just when we clear it, we fill it again (NEVER fit a car in it! ) Plus tomorrow we're out at the Tendring Show. So more waiting. Ho-hum. A pallet of wood and mesh isn't really worth a pic is it?
