Olly
Some of you may remember that I posted last year about my rather unhappy experience of adopting a cat that hadn't been very truthfully described by the rehomers. In fact he was terminally ill and not long after I adopted him he had to be PTS. I got some lovely messages of support and advice on here, and the charity paid the vet's bill, but it was an awful experience, and I said I'd never rehome a cat again. I'm very weak-willed (you knew that, didn't you!). This is what's been living in my spare bedroom for the last two weeks Her name is Claudette, she's 10 years old and was abandoned by her previous owners when they got two kittens. She is a little sweetheart and has settled in very rapidly. Hard to see in this picture, but she has a very short stumpy tail which is the wrong length for her. I think she picked up someone else's tail in the dark. This weekend I'm going to introduce her to Wellington. We've both heard the spare-room door rattling at night, and he has pretended not to notice! I'm sure there will be a bit of growling, but she was recommended to me specially because she walks away from a fight, and won't be aggressive. Fingers crossed that it goes smoothly, I've been following all the tips posted on here in another thread about introducing cats. Thanks to everyone who posted last time, I wanted to let you know that eventually there has been a happy ending!

Joojoo
Ollie that's lovely news You've been very naughty though not to come on here and post piccies sooner She's very lovely though so I'll forgive you just this once I'm sure Wellington will settle down once they've been introduced and had time to get to know each other. Mine all get on ok and they've nearly all been added at different times. 1 + 2 + 1 + 2. Sometimes they get a bit squabbly but on the whole they aren't too bad. They might test your nerves for a while but try to hold out, it will work out in the end. How sad that her owners turfed her out for two kittens. Poor little love Things like that make me so very sad and downright angry. They don't deserve to have pets in their lives if they can discard them so easily. Best of luck. Get them some catnip from a herbal shop. They'll soon be chilling out together I would offer to send you some as there is a fab shop near me that sells it by the ounce, but I daren't for fear of it being seized in the post It does have an unusual smell and bears an uncanny resemblance to something that's not legal

Tessa the Duchess
She is beautiful Olly, and I just love her name How cruel people are dumping a cat to replace with kittens I am looking forward to hearing how the 'introduction' to Wellington goes Tessa

Cinnamon
Aw, she is sweet - pretty name too. Sounds like she deserves a good home after being ousted for newbies, the poor duck
dancing cloud
So did you try an introduction and how did it go? My Loki absolutely adored Puddy at first sight, but it's never been mutual. They all manage to muddle along though, and Cleo was so pushy she fitted in from the start, as she simply walked right past hissy-spitty Pud without even giving her a look So glad Claudette's got a lovely home and you are now having the good adoption experience I and others have had. Always love a happy ending!
Olly
Well, yesterday I opened the spare room door - Welly was snoozing on the bed, so he was up high which I thought would give him the advantage. Eye contact was made, and really there was not much reaction from him. A bit later I saw Claudette hissing, he'd obviousy got off the bed, but she didn't do anything more than that - and then he scooted past the spare room door looking worried, and he hasn't been upstairs since! I think it's going to be upstairs/downstairs for a bit - she won't come down, and he won't come up, but I'm fine with that. I'm still feeding her upstairs, and her litter tray is up there. I'm not going to rush this stage, and I hope after a few weeks he'll be brave enough to sleep on the bed again. He was on the sofa last night with me watching Britain's Got Talent, and seemed quite relaxed. (He's a bit disappointed, we wanted Stavros Flatley to win! )

Aunty e
YAY! I'm so pleased you got another cat! And what a total beauty, I love her little short tail. I can't believe anyone would give her up, people amaze me sometimes. I rehomed Dilly because I thought that she would honestly be happier with my mum than with me, and I get regular updates and piccies, and that was hard enough. How can you dump a little cat like that because you have new kittens? PAH. Hope intros carry on going well
Egluntyne
Secrets Olly! She looks lovely. I hope it goes well.
Olly
Well she is such a pretty little cat and so affectionate, although she does have a temper - I haven't been able to pick her up yet, and once she's had enough of being stroked I've learned to remove my hand promptly! I had a cat like this once before so that doesn't bother me. Thanks for all the kind comments, especially Aunty E because it was your encouragement that persuaded me to try again, I am so glad I did. I think that in the long run Wellington will benefit from having a companion, although he probably doesn't see it quite like that! I think it's going to be upstairs/downstairs cats for a while (should have called them Mrs Bridges and Mr Hudson!) but I don't mind that - no fighting and no shouting, that's fine by me. chickencam
She is lovely Not unlike my lovely Scamp, Claudette has a much prettier name though. I can see why Scamp was named as such but it is not a very girlie name and sounds more like a dogs name. Some cats just don't like to be picked up, I have only had one that actually enjoyed it rather than tolerated it.
Cyber Chook
Hi Olly, I just caught this thread and had to say how lovely Claudette looks, and hope the matchmaking is going well. You encouraged me when I was trying to find a rescue cat (see her royal highness below). Wishing you all the best with your newest addition Caroline
Olly
Why, thank you! Last night I put Claudette's tea downstairs in the hall, still quite a way from where Welly eats, but I wanted to encourage her to come down the stairs which she has gradually been doing. She ate about half, retreated upstairs again and of course before I could stop him Wellington discovered it and tucked into the remains enthusiastically! There's been some eyeballing but no growling or fluffing up, I'm going to go on taking it quite slowly but hoping that she'll be eating downstairs by the end of the weekend.
