gooner.girl
Yeah i spoil mine rotton at christmas! Have already bought the dog and cats a stocking each and will probably get Milo (the dog) another cuddly toy as well! (Not that he needs another!) They also have dog and cat advent calanders! Not sure what to get the chickens though, other then an extra handful of sweetcorn. Seems a bit boring. Anyone any ideas? Does anyone know where you can get peck a blocks from? is it safe to use the kind of treats associated with wild birds and rabbits etc (ie nuts and seeds stuck together) does anyone know?! One Man Banned
We spoil Molly every year - lots of new toys and they all get wrapped as she is so clever she can unwrap them all by herself on Christmas Morning. We also buy all her friends (dogs and cats) presents for them too and we have decided to buy the laydees some mealworms and a tin of sweetcorn each and a new set of roosting bars. Boring yes but what else do you buy the chook who has everything in an Eglu?!
chelsea
Yes we buy for the pets at christmas. Bracken usually gets lots of treats from us...all our families buy for her aswell (as we dont have kids yet)..we also buy for for my mum's dog, mother in laws dog and sisters pooch. so pets very much on the xmas list! Ive seen a great ball for dogs with a huge tongue hanging out - so when its in the dogs mouth it looks like the dogs tongue! last year bracken had a flashing disco collar - ideal for "nights on the town" and also handy to be visible on midnight walks

Sheilaz
Answer is; avoid the fat balls made for wild birds, they're too fatty for our chickens. Mixed corn, seeds etc are great as treats. Sunflower seeds are popular, but esp. only in moderation. For our layers, it is best that their pellets or mash form the majority of their diet. buffie
Quite right Sheila, ours are going to have porridge biscuits that I make for daisie (simple to make and healthy) plus a little sweetcorn and a grape. Just a few as it's a short day, if they fill up they won't have a balanced diet ,as Sheila said, they need their mash. Daisie has several pressie's, squeaky santa, toys to help her chew etc. She has them over the christmas and new year hols and the last one she has is when we go away in jan for my birthday The kits will have toys and prawns, hope they don't climb the tree We have stockings for indoors but I need a way of presenting it to the girls outside:? The Dogmother
I'm buying the chooks a mk2! I wonder what colour that'll be Martin? I usually buy the cats some catnip mice from Culpepper - they are by far the best, so they spend Christmas all blissed out - the hens get extra corn and some meal worms, the bunnies get carrots and the fish.... well, they just get wished a happy Christmas
hillfamily
Our cats are getting one of these each http://the-green-apple.co.uk/store/product_info.php?cPath=26_116&products_id=428&osCsid=54d9fda21c14552623c7bd4ef2592aac The rabbit will have a Rabbit Xmas Stocking from the local pet shop. The tortoise will be hibernating so she will miss out but will get an extra big portion of salad when she wakes up Not sure what to get the girls - maybe some sweetcorn or mealworms Perhaps Omlet should start to sell suitable pressies for our girls
Nicola H
I am knitting the cat a catnip mouse for christmas it is a very easy pattern and will only take me a day to knit up, I am using dried catnip from the garden to fill it, Moppet goes a bit mental when she has her catnip fix the children find it very amusing .............The chickens will get Mealworms and sweetcorn, and everybody will be happy............ Looney
So, does anyone have pets that send Christmas presents to members of the family? My friend insists on getting a present from her dog every year (cunning ruse to get an extra present ) although I think the dog deserves a medal for being able to wrap it up and not get sellotape stuck to his coat
