Ain't Nobody Here
I am having dinner with a couple from Australia this evening. They are both in their 80s and he knew my birth mother really well. He was married to my mum's cousin (they were like sisters) and when she died he married his current wife whose husband had died too (all 4 of them had been friends). He looked out for my mum during her early Alzheimers and was a very good friend to her. He was also around when I phoned and made contact with her for the first time and helped her cope with that. My half-sister says he's been very keen to meet me and she reckons he'll be freaked out because I look so like my mum and have quite a few of her mannerisms (which is freaky in itself ). Blackrocksrock
Have a lovely time - I never traced my birth mother and now I feel its far too late but I still sometimes wish I had done so long long ago. I think its the genetic things you miss too and the family traits!

Ain't Nobody Here
It was a very nice evening . They were lovely and very easy to talk to. They both looked a bit startled at my resemblance to my mum . Turns out John met my mum when she was 11 and has been a fairly close friend all her life. His wife knew her very well too. They didn't have much to tell me that I hadn't been told already but it was very interesting all the same. He said it was a shame I hadn't known her before the Alzheimers as she was a lovely person, very vibrant and interesting was how he put it. We've exchanged email addresses and he has promised to post me lots of photos of my mum (which no-one else wants!)
